Hey folks

We ran up to Canada after tech on Friday and we were a little late coming back.  My wife wanted pizza and as such we stopped at the Rendezvous Restaurant just down the road from the track for what turned out to be a fantastic meal.  my wife and kids had great pizza and i had the house special pot roast which was some of the best I've ever eaten.

This is not someplace we intended to stop at , but we will be back there, hopefully if we get to have an event next year.

Bob, our group (karl, doug, gary, brenda, jake, bill,Johhny Cheeze, and myself) went to a new place Saturday night in Fort Fairfield on rt 167.  Maybe one of the others in the group can remember the name of the place...?

The food was excellent and after dinner the owner and the waitress came over and we chatted all about the race and where we all came from etc.  They didn't know about the race at all and were very interested.

On Sunday the waitress (didn't get her name) was at the races taking pictures and talking with the guys etc.

Jim,  The new place in Fort Fairfield is the Boondocks Grille.  It is actually on Main Street which is off route 167.  Here is the info'... Boondocks Grille, 294 Main St Fort Fairfield, ME 04742-1121 - (207) 472-6074

Hope this helps.

Try little Cheese Pizza on South Main in Caribou or Main in Presque Isle. Get the crazy 8's. Great pizza for a great price. You may want to try the new place on South Main in Caribou, Jeff's. We had breakfast there a few weeks back and it was very good. At Greenhouse at Caribou Inn and Convention Center would recommend the Greenhouse steak. But as always my favorite is the Jade Palace, Chinese at it's best with buffet or you can actually get American food too. Sweet & Sour chicken or pork also recommend the sesame  chicken. Sorry, but I'm not cooking this weekend otherwise I would say here!

So far we tried 2 places on recommendations. Teresa's grill in Presque Isle ... great food - embarrassingly cheap prices and Gran Russo's in the south end of Presque Isle. Also great food at cheap price. Teresa's is more of a Mom and Pop luncheonette but looks like everyone in town eats there. Russo's more upscale with great service and great Italian food. Recommend them both ...

I concur, stay away from the house place at the Caribou, service is absolutely rotten, and the pricing is not good.

We stayed at the Caribou. I would characterize the food as not so great for the cost (hate to say it, but true). We also once had them fail to put in our room service order (found out after 45 minutes of wait), so we ordered pizza instead. I wish I could recall the name of the pizza place, as it was great..and they delivered. The hotel had the menus, and they were yellow. Perhaps someone remembers the name of the pizza place?

Shane

I would guess it was probably Big Cheese Pizza?

In Fort, I know the best restaurant there is Boonedock's Grille.  :)  Maybe that is it?  :D

We had 2 good breakfasts and 2 good suppers at Reno's, was suggested by the lady on the desk at the Crown Park Inn.  Good food and service, reasonable cost.

Stopped at the Rendezvous twice, found the spaghetti nothing special the first time but the burgers were outstanding the 2n'd.

We tend to go for the down home Mom and Pop's, diner types, function over flash.

                                      Ed

Reno's has delicious pizza! :)

I'll second the Napoli's.  We went on Friday night and it was full, but the service was very good along with the food.  I'll be going again next year.

Napoli's is delicious!  They have amazing pasta there. :)

IGG ... It would be great if next year a couple of days before the event you open a topic on local restaurants in the area.  It would be appreciated by all ... Incidentally, the ice cream place next to the Hampton Inn was great ...

There are a lot of places to eat mentioned by racers and local people.  I had a friend of a friend that has relatives in the area and he recommended Russo's. It was great. Another racer, Gregg Neal, recommended Teresa's Cafe and it was great. Next year I am coming up a day earlier to help out with course prep and would like to try a couple new places. You mentioned Boondock's- I will try it first ... Joe
