Deb & Todd's Nawthern adventures (a blog)
« on: July 28, 2009, 10:46:44 PM »
So we got on the road just after 9pm EST. Warning, lots of night construction around DC 9pm-5am. I think we've passed our last batch of constructing now and we're making our way north of DC. We're gonna drive till we get tired then find a hotel.

The truck is very bumpy so it's a challenge to read the internet. (Todd says it's the road not his truck! )Chat was fun but difficult to navigate.

A little bad news, Al "the Bomb" is feeling a bit sore and might not make the trip after all. Big bummer there. On top of that WhiteHendrix was gonna ride up with him. He's an eager newbie that needs a ride. I believe he's out in WV. Ali might try a hook up but we're not sure if that will work out. At any rate, he sounds like a good kid so if anyone's coming from that way consider giving him a lift. Todd & I have contact info if anyone can chip in. I believe he's willing to split costs.

We tried this blog thing last year for our Bonneville trip but the lack of internet threw a monkey wrench into the plan. So anyway, I'm broadband now so we'll give it another go.

Ok, I guess that's it for now.
Debbie

Oh, Deb this is great!  Just what us stay at homes need.  A report 24/7 every 15 minutes or so would be fantastic!  :-D  Hundreds of photos too.

Really, thanks for reporting.  Everyone be safe and follow the orders of First Time Bob.  He has done a great job getting this together.

Thanks Geo! I'll do my best to keep you bored!  :-D

So we spent the night in Chambersburg, PA at the Comfort Inn. Continental breakfast. We had make your own waffles. Not bad.
We're rolling up I-81 North. Light drizzle and very light in the way of traffic. So far so good. Checked the load before we pulled out & everything stayed put. Todd's getting caught up on phone calls and once I'm done surfing the net I have a ton of paperwork to get caught up on. It's been neglected while we were getting race ready. Gotta pay the shop's quarterly taxes so the feds don't hunt me down & fine me.

Yikes! Lots of tire carcasses on the highway this morning. fun fun fun.

Ok, that's it for now. If I see anything interesting to take a pic of I will & post. Right now it's pretty boring! lol

If you really want to be bored, drive through western Kansas, eastern Colorado on I70, or Wyoming on I80

Just make a quick stop at MikeyD's and we're back on the road.  We appear to be rolling through Wilkes-Barre. We're trying to get to or above Hartford Ct just before rush hour. We may get hosed around Boston but we'll see.
On to pics.
Here's our rig:

And here's the backup turbo we're bringing. We had to put it on it's own truck!  :-o

The attitude of your truck looks like a Gasser from the 60's. Maybe u can make several passes with it at the races.

Who is bringing the intercooler for the new turbo?

Stay safe.  Wish I could have gone.  I sold the the race car but still hoped to go and help as one of the volunteers.  Didn't work out.  :-( Maybe next time.

What's the Twin Jugs' race plan?  What bikes are in the trailer?  Your Busa?  Todd's Harley?

Any chance of getting into a 2-club?  What color 2 club Hat is Wanner giving out????

Oh by the way Deb,  no cone hunting for you!  I won't be there to pick you up this time.

Intercooler's on a separate truck:

LL technically speaking "Twin Jugs Racing" will not be attending this meet. Twin Jugs Cycle Racing Division will be attending as crew for Scott Guthrie Racing. We'll be fielding a couple of turbo hayabusa's and a nitrous hayabusa. All have been over 200 MPH so the potential for their 200 MPH club and some records is certainly plausible and of course amongst the goals! We'll miss you at the meet and I for sure don't plan to have any close encounters with the cones!  8-)

Stopped at relatives this afternoon (Wed).  We will be back on the road early tomorrow for the last 8 hours of the trip.  Todd is right Deb.  It was the road around DC.  Boy it about shook us apart.  We'll see everyone that is staying at the Caribou tomorrow afternoon.

Try I-94 through North Dakota.  It's pretty much "tie the steering wheel in place and take a 391-mile nap".

Ok we made it past Hartford, CT without incident. It was more congested but moving. We took 84E to 691E to 91E to 15N to 84E and it was a breeze. That was about 4ish so at the start of normal rush hours.

We're now on 495N on the outskirts of Boston, MA. Seems a little fender bender through a congested area slowed us down quiet a bit. Reminded me of the beltway around Baltimore at about the same time of day! We're cruising free now. We're gonna grab some grub, drive a few more hours & hit some unkown hotel for the night.

Thats it for now. {yawn}

We describe that "unknown motel" as a "crack-whore motel" -- meaning that it's more for a few hours of not-driving -- than for a luxury lodging experience.  Travel safely, my friends.  By the way -- I used the power washer today on the trailer and got lots of crud off it, and from there I delivered it to Signs Unlimited to get stickered-up.  You'll see soon.  See you soon.
