I believe they want to check drivetrain reliability before the expense of shipping to a different continent and finding the failure there.

I certainly understand the need for this. My comment was directed at the likelihood that the track will be unavailable for even modest testing. Is WF cancelled yet?

The Shadow knew all the time.

He directed the delivery truck to the open

hanger door about 10:30 this morning.

Now it's up to us to get the car assembled

and ready if there is a World Finals event.

SCTA will make a decision soon. There is

always the possibility that Mike Cook could

prepare a course later on if it dries up.

This took the knot out of our knickers.

jacksoni..........to my knowledge World Finals has not been canceled.

We will continue to assemble the car in case we do have an opportunity

to test.

It's down right necessary for us.

Best of luck! have been following the car/build though have not had the opportunity to see in person on the salt as we have always been occupied. Say Hi to Marlo for me. We had spent fair amount of time in the 80's and 90's talking /hanging with him when I was running my 'liner.

jacksoni...........it's a deal. I'll talk to Marlo Wednesday

morning. I know he is busy but I'll pass your request on

to him.  He continues with the arrangements needed to

make the event in Australia and frequently gets dealt an

unexpected announcement that is a real surprise.  All the time

he has the two deadlines: the date for the containerS

to be on the dock and the date of the event. Can you

imagine a spread sheet with every item in the 2 containers?

Today's Aussie laws require every item that goes comes

home. Can you imagine bringing home the shredded tires?

Freud,

It is difficult to tell from the photos of the drive bits.   Has any "additional finishing" been done to the exterior surfaces of the bits?    Given that they are highly loaded, some type of REM super-finishing might be in order.   The cost would be affordable, especially considering the consequences.

Just a random thought . . . . . .

BTW, best of luck to all, next time out.

The next event is supposed to be the SCTA World Finals and there has been

nothing stated lately. We are busting' our buttons getting ready if it happens.

Our registration has been submitted.

Which location in South Africa can equal or better (distance, surface, climate .....) the two salt flat sites of Uyuni and Gairdner?

Well it has been announced that the SCTA event,

World Finals 2017, has been canceled. The BLM

states that their concern for the surface of the salt

could be compromised with vehicles running on the

moist surface. Isn't that noble? It said nothing about

deteriorating conditions from pumping.

The potash mine gives them money, we give them problems,( like the truth about the reduction in the salt) so who do you think they would screw first??
