I assume the streamliner is at Jim's shop now:  If so -- are you going to be able to update on the repairs required on a regular visit basis?

Also did you ever get the early build pictures scanned and setup for posting on the Target550 website.  The documentation story starts mid-build but it would be fantastic for documentation of the frame build itself and earlier details.  I'm sure lots of work to do to make happen -- but it would complete the "whole story" of the creation process.

The car is still at Marlo's shop in Oregon.

Jim is making a new panel. He won't need the car for a while. He has the patterns

from the first time around and many spare parts so he can progress w/o the car.

Marlo has the big mechanical part to solve. The blower situation will be a real challenge.

So to fix that he needs the chassis down there.

As I get more info I'll post it. Because of distance I may not use as many fotos but if

I don't I'll try to give a word description. We will just play like it's a one way fone chat.

Good news that they had the opportunity to learn about these issues in July at the test and tune so they have more time to get the problems solved and have a better chance of making one of the later events in this year's Bonneville calender.

Best of luck everyone, I was looking forward to seeing the car at Speed Week, keeping fingers crossed you can be ready for the Shoot Out.

Mark,

You are 100% correct, that is one fantastic picture, just like the car is. Thank you Doc.

I love the USA. How much longer will we be a free nation?

Asking questions is one's only way of getting answers.

The rational person lets verified facts form or modify his opinion.  The ideologue ignores verified facts which don't fit his preconceived opinions.

Ryan Davenport has made a video of the parachute deployment on the Target550 test at the USFRA Test & Tune.

Here is the url:  http://www.target550.com/video2014.html

Just click that link.

Thanks to Clare Sanders for a rapid post.

I think that the speed that I posted, 278 MPH, may have been incorrect. The video will tell.

I stopped by Marlo's shop today and I won't attempt to make a damage assessment but can tell you that other than a few body panels, there is little if any damage to the car, or drivetrain (at least to my eyes).  Dickie and Korey were busy doing routine maintenance on the race car, carriage, and transport trailer, Jim Hume is working on replacement side panels, and Marlo is busy as usual doing everything.
None of these guys have lost the fire, and they plan on being back  on the salt this year............  One Run

We had intended to have a Memorial for Ray on Tuesday of Speed Week.

That included an event with his ashes.

I know other people would be willing to do that for us but I also feel

that we owe it to Ray to use the Target 550 car. After all, he was part of

this project. When the car runs, it will be done.

This has been discussed with his family and they allow this flexibility.

I will keep everyone advised. Ray said he was in no hurry.

That video is the second run with the engine failure and the lost body panel.  Maximum speed per the Racepak GPS on that run was 224.61 mph.  The first run had a maximum GPS speed of 272.71 mph - the video for that run can be seen on YouTube here:
