Thanks Spark.......

It seems that neither of us accomplished all we wanted to.

We will probably both try again.

There is a new post on the Target550 site.

It's a step by step on the building of the fuel tank

for the Gil Ruiz roadster. Jason Hosking has a new shop.

This is the url:   http://www.target550.com/gallery/223_jason_&_fuel_tank/index.html

Jason's skill in making the fuel tank is truly "old school". Having attempted gas welding aluminum I can tell you it is not a cake walk! I still need a lot of practice before I would even attempt to do a project like the tank Jason has built using mostly gas welding. I had a couple of old friends, both passed now, Don Borth and Doane Spencer that could gas weld aluminum and carry on a conversation at the same time and make it look like the parts literally just flowed together. As Jason has shown one of the really great things about gas welding aluminum is that , when done by someone with the level of skill that Jason has,  the welds have great penetration and are completely water tight and the amount of post working of the weld area is only a small amount of filing and sanding. Beautiful job!!

Just a little teaser:  You probably won't be seeing the blue car for the foreseaable future.  We may decide to show/run the other car.  LOL!
