I read it like Pete, so no explanation needed Freud. Dammit I hate it when I am wrong, especially about this.

Are you joining me in the corner Fred? Bring your own chair.  grin grin grin

Peter, You get over there and observe the Golden Rule of silence.

Fred will be punished away from you. A copy cat crime deserves extra

special treatment.

He has to drill safety wire holes in titanium nuts with a hand drill.

A crank model.....none of these modern screamers with lithium batteries.

Just to expel all rumors here is the reason the TARGET 550 car is not at Speed Week.

The car is in the carrier in Marlo's hanger. It is ready to be loaded into the trailer.

Marlo has a colon problem, DIVERTICULITIS, and he is listening to his physician.

He plans for the car to run at World of Speed.

This time health is more important than ANY race car.

So for all of you that just can't wait the decision was made for his health: not the entertainment of the deprived masses.

He was hurting inside when he couldn't be there.

Wait 'till next time.

Ya, World of Speed.

Freud,
What an honour to meet with you at Salt Talks and then to spend some more time over lunch at the airport, what could be better, a glass of wine and the pleasure of your company. I was expecting a dreary wait at the gate, but instread got to spend some more time in your company and benefit from your wisdom, what a way to end a perfect first trip to Bonneville.

Thank you, my friend, grin cheers

The Treit and Davenport will be running at the World of Speed.  This has been announced earlier.

It will also be running at Mike Cooks Shootout.

This project has never been in a hurry up mode until the last few months. With the car

in Marlo's shop in Aurora, Oregon it is much more convenient for the crew to work on it.

The test runs at the Woodburn drag strip gave valuable information regarding drivability, engine

starting procedure and how to handle the car in its carrier. All of these items relate to being

"user friendly."  It is not known how  what changes may be needed to make record attempts but

after the World of Speed event decisions can be made to raise the speed. There will be a major

learning curve in the first few runs.   As I said earlier sensible progress is the goal for these events.

If World of Speed goes realistically Mike Cook's event can be the spring board for serious speed.

Marlo and Les are experienced racers. They will be excited if everything goes letter perfect but

they will also be prepared to face teething problems.

Excitement runs high in the Target 550 shop.

We will do all possible to post happenings and results from the two meets.

Be realistic as we report the progress.  The team wants to go fast but they will approach it in

a controlled manner.

We will try to do  a foto post in the next few day to show some of the changes since the car

came from Hume's shop and the information gained from the drag strip testing.

Thanks for your interest.

I think Freud's a little busy at the moment (I think he might be tryin to get one of his cats to pose for a photo  grin ) so I'll mention that I just put a post on the Target 550 website:
http://www.target550.com/gallery/218_datapak_linkage_etc/index.html

It covers stuff that's been added/changed or otherwise ain't been seen before as well as a visit by a coupla friendly SCTA instructors and Korey Bligh doing a bailout test.  (Who does he think he is?  General Motors?  wink )

Here's a photo of him getting into the liner so he can get back out of it:

C ya all in a week!

Ray the Rat is clairvoyant.

He knew that I was napping and announced the post as I was sleeping.

What a great friend to have.

Oh Ya,  be certain to follow us when we run at World of Speed and Mike Cook's Shootout.

We hope that Ray can see far enough in the future and bring towels for us to wipe our faces

if we step on our Richard.

I don't think the team will take chances that would cause that to happen.

THANKS, R the R.

I accomplished the foto of the cats.

Freud, you're as good with cats as I remember you were with motorcycles. I'd have to go downstairs to the old magazines collection to confirm that to be true.

I've enjoyed seeing some of the equipment that took some of those pictures. It's in good hands.

Paul......You should see the ones that I deleted.

WOW.    Thanks for the effort to come to the shop and do the inspection.

It's more than convenient to do the inspection in a dry, temperature controlled atmosphere.

It beats Wendover in October.

Peter Jack.....You mean like this shot of Cook Neilson on his Ducati?

This was at Sears Point, July 1974, Nikon F2, manual focus, f4.0 80-200 zoom

manual exposure, hand held and a shutter speed of 1/125, f11.0

using Kodachrome 64. His helmet is sharp and that's about it.

Them were the days.
