In the two pictures above ( not the group photo) I love that you can see the flush mount rivets filed smooth. Does anyone have a clue as to how many rivets there are in this car?

I don't even want to count the number that are still needed to finish the tail.

The closer that you get to the very end of the tail the less room there is inside to buck them.

Rizzy and her Father are the salt of the earth.

Made my day 2 years in a row.

Ray C Wheeler

Just a slight correction.  The url Freud posted is correct.  But I added a separate section in the Menu bar for Unsung Heroes; it's not in the News section.

Bill, I showed my sister and cousin (whom I haven't seen in decades and she visited me on Saturday) the photos I shot of Rizzy giving Mitch a coin just before the "rains came down" at SW 2011.  They were both teary-eyed with emotion.  Keep up the good work, bro.

It's a good chance that there won't be a post until Saturday.

Ray is on the salt and is rather busy there.

Is it better late than never?

We posted today.

Here is the url:    http://www.target550.com/gallery/192_front_wheel_fairings_&_attachments/index.html

There is very little that is new at this stage.

Hang in there with us. We'll get something of interest.

Freud and Ray:

Thank you. The devil is in the details. Sometimes it takes longer to do the little things.

I am convinced that wheelerdealer has done some building. He does understand.

Freud,
Thank you for the complement. Yes I have done my share of fab work, but mostly airboats, swamp buggies and farm equipment. All of which have a very low precission standard. Back then I had the basic instruments. A large vice, cutting torch, buzz box stick welder, a 7" grinder, a drill and a large hammer. Throw in some brown shopping bags and scissors for the precission templates.
Although I did not have the skills or patience to duplicate, always had an eye for precission fabrication.
Thanks for sharing the Target 550 build with us.

A huge amount of time was spent on the wheel fairings. When they were all done:  nothing to it.

They look so smooth and "fit just right." I didn't spend any more time on how Jason built them.

I'll just show you how slick they are.

Have a look.

Wow... that NACA Duct is incredible ( As is the whole car.)! I'm tempted to try my hand with Aluminum, but can't really justify bunging up a perfectly good piece of metal just for practice. One of these days I'll transform all these empty "Steel Reserve" cans into something. That is as soon as the headach wears off.   :-D

When I did the most recent post on Target550.com I failed to attach these 4 images.

They relate to the NACA duct and the outside cockpit release.

Sorry about that.
