Excellent update Dr.

Hire that little pink inspector. He will come in handy when servicing the car in impound. He can move around inside the chassis without removing the panels! :) I know there are days I would love to have a chassis monkey to reach those impossible bolts.

On a serious note, thanks for taking the time to post. We all really enjoy following this build.

I did more fotos of the 'liner today. These will be used for next Friday's post.

I sat in the cockpit and had a straight on view of the dash and the windshield.

I am 5' 9" and weigh 174#. The car is on stands and for me to get into it we made a ladder with plastic boxes.

I stepped into the car from the 3rd box. There was enough room to turn around to drop into the seat but my shoulders fit somewhat

snug. It is difficult to do fotos in that cockpit. To eliminate reflections we shut off all the overhead lights.

Below the dash was very dark and when I used the strobe as a fill I had bad reflections from the engine turned dash board.

All's not lost. I will reshoot it now that I have seen the images on the computer.

There is good news that Jim announced. He will have an OPEN HOUSE at the shop from July 2 thru July 7. Opens at 10 AM and ends at 5 PM.

He is 5 1/2 miles East of I-5 Exit 236. His address is 22334 Prairie Road, Sedro Woolley, WA.98284     Exit 236 is Prairie Road.

The shop is on the right side of the road. His mailbox is by the road and the number is on the box.

That steering wheel is covered with centuries old "legal" ivory.

Just a Hume touch.

Never be surprised what will be revealed next..........

More surprises coming.

Sorry it isn't better. Before the next post I'll submit a huge file.

Hope the driver's a little taller -- else he'll be sighting on to top of Floating Mountain.

I just bought a whoopie cushion.

Besides, he has a pilot's license and frequently looks at empty airspace.

At least he wouldn't also be looking at  Nevada, then the  STARTING LINE, the Floating mountain again, over to Utah and so forth!

Boeing built a chair in a 747 for someone whose religion required them to be looking toward the East.

We ordered one of those chairs for the car but it has a variable direction switch so our driver can always be looking

where he is supposed to be going even if he is spinning.

Next year a modified version will be required for roadster drivers.

Freud:

Leave it to Boeing to find the final solution.  I am going to use smart bomb technology, just laser a spot on floating mountain and my guidence system just steers me there!

That is a great shot from the business office of the Target 550 streamliner. I feel like after following this build I know may enough about the streamliner to qualify for a crew member position say sweeping the salt off of the blue tarps.

I cant wait for the day that I see it in person. A truely unique piece of engineering.

Freud, thanks again for making Fridays special!

It's Friday and so a new post:  http://www.target550.com/gallery/179_fairings_seat_belts_air_bottles/index.html

While it doesn't really relate to the build I was happy to announce the Open House at Hume's shop.

I wish the nation and the world could take advantage of it.

If not for a few thousand miles of travel I would be there. I will have to settle for Speedweek.

I was thinking, bucking all those rivets has to be a fun job.

Thanks for the update,
