Just so you guys know, used clecos are readily available from some commercial suppliers and lots of homebuilt aircraft guys who have sworn off ever doing another one of those projects again. Just Google "used clecos".

Progress on reassembly.

Have a look at the torque tube and Hume and Marlo surveying the tail.

I am warning my wife that I may need to drop everything at some point this year and see this car make its maiden voyage.

Thanks again Doc. Hope you don't mind me hot-linking this picture here.

When the car is finally ready for test runs will they run it at elmo or will they only run it at the salt. I also would like to see the car run in person.
The speed that you wish to achieve is only limited by the depth of your wallet.

It won't be tested at El Mo.

Marlo is making arrangements to test it on a paved track.

Can't think of a better place to test than the Shootout. The track is available about any time you want it and you can run as many times as you want. Fire and EMT are standing by. Official timing there if you need it. Cost is very reasonable.

Thanks Mike.  I'll pass your suggestion along to Marlo.

I appreciate you thinking of us.

It certainly is a pleasure to do the fotos of the reassembly of the 'liner.

It's all so clean and refreshing.

Enjoy todays look at the reassembly process.

As the reassembly happens it is difficult for me to tell much of a story.

So I'll do the best I can.  I can miss a lot by only shooting once a week.

Thanks Freud:

With everyone racing at the ECTA event in Wilmington and me working at my desk on S. Florida I needed a "LSR fix." Lately I am too busy to race or fab on my one stuff so I live vicarously through your documentation of the Target 550 build. :)

Thanks,

Bill

Thanks Bill.

We really appreciate your comments.

Do you want me to put you on the "note from Mom" list so you can

get away from the desk when the testing starts?

Freud,

No note from Mom will help me now.

I am trying to start a new business in this tough economy.  You would think in this economy things would get streamlined. The state and local government bureaucracy is about to eat my "you know what" up. It's carzy, I just want to remodel a building, hire about 18 people, pay, city, state and federal taxes, pay for health care, pay payrole taxes, pay insurance, pay accountants, pay lawyers, pay vendors and pay banks interest and in the end hope there is about 2.5% in net profit left over for the effort.  It will all get done but there is not much time for anything else. I have done this before and it is just a long first two years.

But reading about the Target 550 is a great escape. Its like  on the job!

I think I need to expand on my `Used Cleco` idea. I could see packages of 20, say, that were actually used to hold this car together, being packaged with photos as evidence, autographs and pictures of the team, etc, etc, and those packages could be auctioned off, perhaps a few could be for the benefit of this site? Just an idea I had.....Hopefully I will see the actual vehicle on the weekend of May 19-20. I plan to come North to the Monroe Swap Meet, and will be staying with my pal Ken Gilmour. He knows all of you and visits on occasion, apparently. I hope there isn`t a `Maximum Kiwi Occupancy` at the Shop... :-D :-D
