Until someone raises the bar to 500 mph it's still a open game. Next year will be interesting for sure. Lots of cars in the works.
Salt fever is calling for a fix.

A nice end to the evening, Doc. I can go to bed now. More work tomorrow, may even use my inspiration from this post to work on the T Coupe....also a Computer Course tomorrow to see if I can learn enough to post photos and a build Diary for the car...My Wife and Daughter have named it `Salty`...Previous Jalopy was named `Rusty`...wonder if Marlo has `named` the Streamliner.....

One time he called it "Not Yet."

I'll ask him today.

What happened to Viking 31, or was that just for the model?

This car is to sexy for the salt, to sexy for the salt, way to sexy for the salt.

It is still Viking 31. The importance to that number is that it is considered as a project of the auto design and engineering section of

Western Washington University and has the same privileges in other colleges and universities in the State of Washington as does

any project developed within the halls and walls of that institution.

It's rather like Diplomatic Immunity. You can't buy it.

The Fed Ex driver told me that The Friends of Space Travel want Hume to build a new Space Shuttle.

I'm certain that he will let his friends get free rides.

I agree. Put it in a museum as a fantastic work of art.

But that time will come. First there is a job to do.
Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.
Just remember . . . It isn't life or death.
It's bigger than life or death! It's RACING.

Dean, you are correct. Thanks for your understanding.

They are working 120 hours per week.

I miss the progress on many of the parts and can only show some of them in the finished configuration.

But it's still fun for me.

Sparky and Dean,

I agree with both of you. It is just to bad the salt is so corrosive, but I guess you could say it will add patina to the car. LOL.

Maybe someday some gearhead will win the lottery and buy a piece of property that could hold a 12 mile asphalt Landspeed course. Then we would never have to worry about corrosion, or someone mining the surface away, or special interest groups trying to get us banned from running on public lands. Oh well, we can always dream.

Lets make it 15 miles and cooling pipes in the surface to keep the temp down.

It would also need a hotel with inexpensive rooms.

A new post just this evening.

The buck for the metal helmet restrainer inside the roll cage, the dust discharge from the clutch and the scattershield cover.
