Ray Therat is faster than an oncoming SLC rainstorm.

He did his assignment and with only 3 corrections to make in the material that I sent him............the post is online.

Thanks RAY THERAT.

A lot is happening this coming week. The molds for the front wheel fairings are done and the first set of composite parts are done.

A change in the specifications of those parts required a modification to the first replacements. They will be reshaped to allow

more ground clearance. Jim will have them Tuesday. Then Frank Martinez will make a mold of the canopy so the windshields can be formed.

Frank is much closer than is Les Davenport and the possible problems with shipping and returning components from Canada will be eliminated.

I'll have the fotos of making the mold for the next post.  Frank will make the windshield sections in his shop that is about 75 miles from Hume's.

This is a sketch of the possible shape of the windshield. It looks to me like it will be 3 pieces because there are reinforcement tubes inside the canopy

and the sketch lines match the position of the supports. The bottom of the machined slot is the level that allows the driver to see over the nose.

See all of you next time.

Keep your eyes open.

We will have a post either tonight (Memorial Day) or early tomorrow.

Just some stuff that the mailman returned.

Have a safe ride home tonight.

Have a look at some of the past in the creation of the Treit &  Davenport 'liner.

It's posted for today.

http://target550.com/gallery/116_windshield_mold_in_a_day/index0006.html

This shows all the steps needed to make a mold from the canopy of the Treit & Davenport 'liner.

If you have any questions, just ask and I will get the answers.

One thing I failed to bring out regarding the small roller is that besides smoothing the matt it also rolls out any

air pockets and bubbles. Kent, you can correct my mistakes. I know this is elementary to you.

I don't know how much coverage I can supply related to making the windshield. I'll do all I can since this can be a major problem.

Enjoy..........

Thanks - guys.  Here I go, getting up nice and early on a Saturday morning so I can do lots of stuff -- and I make the mistake of checking the Forum before I get the fist cup of coffee.  And finally, after about 20 minutes, I remembered - that I want some coffee.

Fascinating stuff, Marlo - and Freud.  Thanks.  You too, Ray.

I really want to thank Ray for his help. He is at the Rat Fink Reunion and I sent him the fotos during that time.

So in the middle of the afternoon he is in his room doing the post.

That's devotion to duty that can only be repaid with huge sums of money.  OH YA !!!!

Thanks again Ray.

It was also fun to have Marlo in attendance. He had been to Hume's shop and on the way home he

stopped for quite a while. It's seldom that he gets much time to observe what he is responsible for

creating and his enquiring mind asked questions and absorbed the answers. He learned enough that

he decided he would let someone else do this type of work for him.

An afterthought and a correction......the windshield will be one piece. It will be formed in Lexan. Frank has

the facilities for doing that job at his shop. His experience includes Indy cars, all types of upper level sports cars, boats

and any other equipment that needed composite work. He builds parts from scratch, the wheel fairings for the 'liner,

and repairs anything that is crushed or broken. He's just another example of the talented craftsmen that assist on this project.

THANKS FELLOWS

Thanks for the good words, Doc.  I made it home in one piece...and only left cuz I ran outta printer ink and paper...and I ran outta steam.  :)  It was a kool gathering and show.  I'll post photos...somewhere...sometime.  :)

It was nice to see Tom and Cathy Shannon and Elmo Rodge, among others.  The LSR community was well represented.
