Freud, Ray, You've out done yourselves great work. Although, I think I know what Jim Hume is thinking in that last picture (104 020) you have to ask yourself what's Jim Hume thinking. Jim great craftmanship,very nice. Thanks Richard

Thanks, Richard. Most of the credit goes to Freud for the great photos and capturing the essence of what's happening as the construction progresses and those great shots of Hume pondering. If you knew what he was thinking, you might not wanna know, yanno?

I'm wondering how the growth and contraction is compensated with the thin aluminium skin and the sturdy metal frame from the hot and cold temperatures. Weather temperature in night and noon for one example, hot engines on the other, and from the sun and shade on the car's different sides on the track? An aeroplane grows a lot in high altitude flight but I think the frame construction and similar materials is compensating for that, but whatabout the liner? If the aluminium panels is fitted with that kind of precision and all those countless rivets in reamed holes to an unforgiving steel frame, wouldn't the liner would look like a waffled banana at the end of the track?? Break the news gently if Treit forgot all about that and have to start from scratch again!  I guess I can use the scrap for patching a shed I got here...

That's probably why it is riveted instead of welded.

Marlo has been in the aircraft business for many years and knows about aircraft construction as does a few others on the project. I doubt if there will be a problem.

I didn't honestly thought it would be a problem, but riveting alone doesn't solve all issues, or does it? I wouldnt mind a deeper explanation in the topic from someone or anyone that have been in the aircraft business for many years and knows about aircraft construction. How can you have control of such fine tolerances with a skin like that on a frame like that. Surface is a carrying idea in the aero departement.

I just left Michael Werner from a mall in Everett, WA. He is the teacher at Granite Falls HS Manufacturing class in Granite Falls, WA.
The two cars that were entered in the Shell Eco Marathon arrived in Houston about 11:30 AM, PDT.
Tomorrow morning they can enter the pit area and their pit site can be set up so when the crews arrive it's all ready for them.
Sound like anything salt flat racers experience? They are experiencing the same excitement we experience for Speed Week.
Michael will be posting their experiences and results on Landracing.com.
Target550.com extends all the best wishes to them as they challenge the world in this event.
They exactly parallel most race teams that race on the salt or at El Mo.
The things that didn't go on the trailer are being packed in suitcases. Oh well, it's nice the crew can make certain that what's needed
will be there.
Marlo, Jim, Jason, Dave, Ray Therat and I hope that the time and sweat they have put into this project give them satisfaction.
Their next event is World of Speed.
Then eall of us can meet this remarkable group of students, their teacher and support team at B'ville.
My Thanks to USFRA for allowing them to participate in their dream event.
They are experiencing the same rush we do when Speed Week is only days away
We will all meet them on the Salt.

THANKS Spark. They are a GREAT group and a new branch on the tree of LSR competition.
They will show up at B'ville in a few years with the same excitement as we had in the 50's and 60's
and probably be better prepared.

I talked to Michael Werner in Houston tonight.
Both cars are thru tech, the girls had several small changes to pass, and they are ready for the events.
I'll hear from Michael or he will post on Landracing.com after their events.
