I engaged my mouth before I had it washed out.

The splitter.

There are three different sizes.  There is one piece that is zero extension. It is needed to establish the location of any protruding splitter.

It is also an attachment point for the front section of the front wheel fairing. The post in www.target550.com of 01-08-11, image 087_007

shows that piece in Frank's hands.

There is one that protrudes 5/16" and the other set protrudes 9/16"

All of them have been anodized and are wrapped up to protect them.

My generous guess of 1 3/4" was completely off base. The size of these splitters may have very little relationship to any

other car whose top speed is considerably less than the goal for Treit/Davenport.

In the Target550 website, check the post of 12-08-2010, images 075_04 and 05.

Things change.

43 feet.

Go to www.target550.com and when it opens, click on Specifications.   (Left Side)

No more guessing. It's all spelled out on that page.

Ray Therat has done his job again.

Here is the url for todays post:  http://www.target550.com/gallery/91_throttle-fuel_cables_oil_drains_new_oil_pumps/index.html

The empty spaces are getting smaller and smaller.

Next weeks post will include the plumbing for the water tanks.

THANKS, Ray

The oil system plumbing is nearing completion.

The water tanks are now the project.

Next week I will have unique images of a very special piece to work in the confined area.

Here's todays link.

I just added a bit to the T-550 "News" page about an article in in the Granite Falls, Wa Herald entitled, "Praise for Granite Falls' car-building ShopGirls."
http://www.target550.com/news.html  There's also a link to a photo gallery of the the ShopGirls efforts to squeeze 678 mpg outta a gallon of diesel fuel.

I thought it was pretty kool that their team was praised by the US Secretary of Education.  In my opinion, they sure deserve it.

Hope ya enjoy it,

Thanks Ray,

I enjoyed that, and hope they make their goal.

Thank you Ray and Freud.  Yesterday we took Iron Maiden and the 1:10 scale LSR-UC to the Shell Refinery in Anacortes for PR and got a tour - Note new team shirts - pink and green for the girls and yellow and blue for the UC team!

I wish the girls the best in their efforts.

All they have to do is use 35 millionths of an ounce of fuel per foot. Slightly less than 2 ounces per mile.

Any time you want to wonder where GM hid the "200 mpg" carburetor during the 50's, just calculate the amount of heat released by 35 millionths of an ounce and it's obvious you aren't going to drag a heavy vehicle and get good mileage.
Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.
Just remember . . . It isn't life or death.
It's bigger than life or death! It's RACING.

A post with no writing.

There were some images that have been left behind and not used in recent posts so I bundled them

together and shot them off to Ray Therat.

The first two images will be explained in a soon to happen post.

Here's todays url:

It's a little early in the day for our foto post but there will be one within the next 20 hours.

But, open www.Target550.com and have a read of the post called Unsung Heros.

This is Marlo's recognition of people who have contributed to the project.

Near the top of the page is a link that opens the new section.

FREUD and RTR,  Thanks for the excellent detailed pictures and  for teasing us with the build.  Every time I look at this build it leaves me wondering on how on earth can you improve on perfection.  Tony
