For those who haven't seen the video interviews with Freud asking the questions and Jim Hume (the master craftsman behind the construction) answering 'em, I made a page with links to the YouTube videos:
http://www.target550.com/gallery/41_hume_video_interviews/index.html

They give a pretty good explanation of a lotta things that might not otherwise be apparent.

Hope you enjoy 'em.

It's that time again.  Doc Freud has provided us with some "potpourri" in the form of photos covering several different areas of the car.  My favorite is this one:

I think it's because as Freud wrote in the thumbnail caption, "It's coming together."  With every new update it seems like my heart beats a little faster (maybe I otta take a beta blocker or something.  ;) ) as the light at the end of the tunnel in my mind becomes a little brighter.

http://www.target550.com  Click on "Pictures" and see the latest (at the bottom) or scroll down on the main page and click on the May 28 post.

Check 'em out.

Ray Therat has lost his head and went to the Big Daddy Ed Roth Reunion in Mantee, Utah.

That means there will be a slight delay in the posting for this week.

First he has to get home.

Next he has a foto job to shoot at Millers racetrack.

Then he has to  clear his head to be able to get organized.

Then, probably Sunday morning, he will make the post.

Had I known that the Roth Reunion was this week I probably would have gone and

not even have sent him the images.

Roth would have been glad to see old Dockie Doo.  I loved that man.

Lynda, AOL spellchecker lead me to the wrong place. I'll send them a correction.

Besides, Ray's home now and even if I go to the correct place, he won't be there.

A new post on www.target550.com has been posted.

It relates to the assembly of the recently painted and anodized body structure, the belly pan panels that

allow access to the oil pans and Prairie, the head dog of security. Apparently he has sniffed out a possible

terrorist lurking in the corner.

Another week has passed by and the guys have been hard at work on the Target 550 liner project.  I find myself saying this every week, but I'm blown away every time I see a new set of photos that Freud shoots and prepares.

Case in point: one of the sections of this week's post show bearing surface pillow blocks and bearing inserts (made from Delrin or Teflon or some self-lubricating, high temperature-resistant plastic) for the rods that fasten and release the catches for the body panels.  I've attached one of the photos from the web site and Freud may post a couple more.  These blocks and inserts are (once again) works of art and something I never would have thought of doing.  I asked where the oil lines and dry sump tank were gonna be.  Well, that's a little over the top but when ya see this you might ask yerself the same thing...any system with matched blocks and bearing surface inserts deserves a full pressure oiling system, right?

And then there's the little catches for the retainer bolts on the wheel enclosures...and on and on...

Anyway, just more great stuff from Hume's shop...with a coupla hints and more good stuff to come.

Enjoy,

Ray,

Thanks for posting the pictures, and to Freud for taking the pictures and adding the commentary.

I love the USA. How much longer will we be a free nation?

Asking questions is one's only way of getting answers.

The rational person lets verified facts form or modify his opinion.  The ideologue ignores verified facts which don't fit his preconceived opinions.

There is a glitch in my most recent posting on www.target550.com and it will be corrected Monday.

Late night hours show up as oversights. It all started with a spelling error.

There will be a new image added that relates to the wheel cover retainers.

Thanks for your continued interest in this build.

It taken me 3 days to go thru all and every picture on the target 550 site and it's just poetry in metal! There's not words enough. I consider myself fortunate to be able to follow a build like this. The sustained dedication to detail of all in the constructing and fabrication crew is, what to say, humbling to a cobbler as I am. My regards must go not the least to the photographer that keeps focused to the fine aspects inspite the overwhelming numbers of details and length of project. The undertext is equally important as well, to explain what is shown and whats going on in the build. A simple thank you sounds feeble.
