Rat's tour photos:  At the 2013 Bonneville NW Reunion, the Saturday mid-day activity was a tour of the shop that now houses the Target 550 liner.  I wandered around aimlessly, shooting off my camera from time to time and getting photos of the liner and those visiting.  I think we all had a good time.  I didn't add any captions to the photos, so just imagine that you're walking along with me seeing interesting stuff and people.

Here are a couple of extra shots:

You may have seen one of 'em before, but I like it a lot so ya get it again.

Dual LSR legends and dual Yoders = dual drool factors! I made need an IV soon with all this fluid loss!  :-o

Here's a local dual Yoder that came off a WWII aircraft carrier. I pester the owner about giving some classes - I need a new ashtray!  :-D

If you want a chance to play with the dual Yoder (See post #1721) they are having a one-day hands-on training April 6th!.
Limited to 6 people and I am #3. $200 for the day!

You can contact Mark Kennison: www.markkennison.com

Some other cool "iron" here: www.ddclassic.com

If he gets enough responses he will try to have another session in May.

Now you know why you should not have skipped "shop class" when you were in HS.

A Yoder type machine can do so much but it still needs to be backed up by some

other machines that all fit into the same class of shaping equipment.

I'm happy that this opportunity has been presented so close to home.

We now have an online store where you can order Target 550 t-shirts and other stuff.  There's a new button on the menu panel on the T-550 site which will take you to this page:
http://www.target550.com/store.htm

That page has a link to Slingshotz Designs online store:
http://www.slingshotzdesigns.com/shop

I think the prices are gonna increase slightly, so if you want a 2012 shirt, so asap would be a good time to order it.

Surprise   Surprise   Surprise !!!!

We just made a post.

This is the url:  http://www.target550.com/gallery/211_tail_is_finished/index.html

Since there are no more parts or pieces of the Treit and Davenport streamliner at

Jim Hume's place I have nothing to shoot up there. I will continue to cover the project

but Ray and I have decided that we will be making posts twice a month until the testing

starts.  It can not be as detailed as in the past if I only shoot every other week but when

test time comes I'll have everything that happens in this diary.

Stay with us. Check frequently and you won't miss anything.  This summer will hold some

real surprises for all of us.

Have fun, review the earlier posts and be ready when we go testing.

I want to THANK Jim Hume, Jason Hosking  and Dave Jeffers for all of the help that they

provided as this marvelous machine was constructed.

I want to Thank all of the internet followers that we know are out there.

Stick with us........now the real adventure is about to unfold.

But the biggest kudos are for Marlo Treit and the vision that has been a major part of his

life for the past 20 years. His support has made my job a lot of fun.

For Ray and I, THANKS A LOAD.                HAWAII, here I come.

Freud:

I may need tharapy to deal with my Target 550 post withdrawal. There were many times when yours and Ray's post were the highlight of a otherwise crappy week!

Thanks for all of the effort to share this great build with all of us. I have learned a lot and enjoyed every photo and every comment.

Doc., what are you going to do with all of your spare time now?

It's been fun. The pace will be changing now.

It will be shifting to pre-race mode.

That's what these 12 years have been directed to.

That's gotta be a hoot.

We will continue to let our audience know what's happening.

Thanks for your comments, Peter.

So what is Jim Hume going to build next?  Must be strange after such a long build sequence of the streamliner so see nothing sitting there any longer...

Yes , from the amount of labor that went into that tail section...he probably does not want to see any aluminum panels for a while.

Freud have a great time in Hawaii.

Thanks you guys for the liner info and neat photo's

I have been seeing the car take shape for just a few months, have known Dave for 40 plus years so it was neat to see his handy work too.

When will it get the paint and when will the testing start?

Thanks Don

It will be painted when it gets a sponsor. We aren't having it painted and then have to repaint it to

match the corporate colors of a sponsor. Even if they are paying for it.

Our testing plans were yanked out from under us when the mojave Mile cancelled.

It may be done at the 2nd Ohio Mile.

There just aren't a lot of places available. We won't test on the salt. We don't want to

spend a lot of time cleaning it. Asphalt won't present the same problem.

It will be displayed at the Portland Oregon swap meet next month.

April 4th thru 7th.

Google: Portland, Oregon Swap Meet

Inside and under cover.

See any of you there?
