VP Racing fuel available at Loring Event
« on: July 01, 2009, 11:31:15 AM »
Hello to everyone.  I'm Bob Taylor from Eastern VP Sales from Eliot, Maine.  I have been talking to Bob Wanna about bringing fuel to the event at Loring for over a year now.  I'm very excited about Bob's enthusiasm in bringing this kind of racing to Maine.

Because this is a new venue and a new discipline of motorsports to me, I have no idea what to expect.  So... I'm asking for some help in deciding what to bring.  To help you help me, pre-payed orders get a 5% discount.

I'm planning on bringing 5 gallon pails of our most popular leaded and unleaded fuels.  30 and 54 gallon drums are available by pre-order only.

Due to Maine state laws, I cannot sell VP's fuels that contain MTBE (Q16, VP113, U4.2, etc).

Call me for application help, pricing and to pre-order

Mr Taylor I'm a little slow sometime.  Just want to make sure I have it right.  You are the fuel supplier for the meet and for the gas classes you will be suppling the fuel and sealing the tanks for record purposes.  I plan on running gas and fuel classes, but want to be straight before I call you about an order.

I was planning to be a "vendor" for the event.  I can do this in any way the event manager wants it done.  Some sanctioning bodies have their own tech people who fill and seal tanks.

I am capable of doing specific gravity, dialectric and reactivity tests on site and can send samples to VP's lab for further testing.

I hadn't gone over this with Bob Wanner, but maybe he or someone else of authority can chime-in.

We obviously do have to abide by Maine state laws regarding fuel formulations.
We also are on the honor system regarding sealing tanks, but God help you if you run some concoction that blatantly breaks either State or  LTA laws.
It's a corny cliche, but you only cheat yourself if your junk is crooked.
This is a club, it ain't nascar.
We are fortunate having Bob Taylor at VP running his stuff all the way up to Loring for our first event, utilize all his equipment, which he has offered and
treat him as a fellow enthusiast, which he is.

I CAN bring leaded fuel with motor octanes from 96 to 120+

I tried to get VP to supply MR10, but it has been dropped from their product line and they will not make any more.  So, with the MTBE laws as they stand, I cannot bring any of the MR fuels.

For anyone who is interested or thinks that they can help, I've been trying to get an ammendment to the law banning MTBE to allow for racing use only.  I only get one chance a year to propose it to the state through our representative.  If you are a Maine or New Hampshire resident, please let your representative know that this issue is important to you and convince them that you and your fellow racers are responsible enough to keep MTBE contained.

I totall agree.  I was just seeing how you were doing things at Loring.  At Maxton the vendor has to dispence the fuel and tape the tank for any gas class and fuel is what you brung.  I'm an unleaded 100 octane guy, makes it simpler.  Thanks for the info.

Hi Bob,
Most of the Turbo bike guys/girls will be running C16.
When is the dead line for pre-order?

Getting confusing here, Robbie, writing to Bob Taylor, on a site run by Bob Wanner, Co Conspirator with Bobby Jepson.
I presume your "sealed tank" is on a Motorcycle ? Back to the "Honor system" I mentioned earlier here, the serious racers, of which there will be quite a few attending, usually know who and when somebody is juicing. You are likely OK.
I drive a typically thirsty four wheeled vehicle, only a dream to have gas left over to the next meet. 4-5 runs we have to refuel.
