76 trans am
« on: June 29, 2009, 10:36:26 PM »

Some friends are building a twin turbo 76 trans am for Bville this year and are looking for some lower gears in the 2.20 range they think its a dana 60 but not positive.

Does anyone know for sure what rearend came with this car and what kind of  cars came with higher gear ratios that will bolt in?

Caddy has a 2.28 8 7/8 ---- Gm 7.5 is available with a 2.14  you can get a Torsen tpe with both as I under stand

Thanks Sparky I thought you might be somebody who would know. What years should they look for or what company could they purchase one?

77-78 79 Caddy Fleetwood Brougham  do not remember the axel codes

late model camaro housings ---to get the 28 spline Torsen series 2 center section  I have been crusing ebay for the torsen and the 2.14 or 2.28 gears then clips eliminators and axel shafts for both applications

I am not an athouritiy on this subject but I would bet your friends $ 20 that a 76 TA did not come with a Dana 60. I don't want someone to buy parts that won't fit. Let me know where to send the 20 because this sure won't be the first time I am wrong. Vince

Thanks Vince, they know somebody real well at a dealership that they ordered a 2.50 or so I don't remember exactly. They need to go a little over 200 for the record this year so they will probably wait on the tall gears.
