SCTA CLUBS
« on: June 19, 2009, 03:05:00 PM »
I was just on the SCTA web site and looking over the items available. One thing is the number of clubs. There are e-mail contacts and club web sites listed. This is a great place to start for finding all about the lakes and a club near you. Several of the clubs accept out of state assoc. membership. The Gear Grinders put out a monthly news letter that goes to it's members and usually includes the SCTA board and rep's notes. I think a couple of the other clubs have news to their members as well. Go to the www>SCTA-BNI.ORG web site and click on the tabs or menu for information results and pictures .

Enjoy

Okay -- I wasn't going to mention it, but I might as well.  I'm a Gear Grinder.  Glen's right -- we get monthly minutes, SCTA/BNI minutes, and quite a few little updates as time goes by - everything from sick call notices to duty assignments for EM events and so on.  I find enough value in my membership to keep it going, year after year, even though I'm not in their traditional neighborhood.  I'd urge other racers -- that aren't affiliated with one of the SCTA clubs -- to consider joining.  At least check 'em out, as Glen suggested.

SDRC must be a pretty high class club. They ran me off years ago. Of course the Milers were first to run me off. So far the Rod Riders seem more accepting.

Remember the immoral (sic) words of Groucho Marx:

"I'd never belong to a club that would have me as a member."

The Gear Grinders have several members from around the country and in Canada. At one time we had a couple of Aussies. Like SDRC, the Side Winders and Rod Riders, Road Runners we all started out in the 1930's. Hows that for longevity. A lot of clubs have come and gone. The last club that joined was the High Desert racers. When one looks back at the pioneers that started this and how many have continued  for so many years it makes us proud to be members of the oldest motor sport venue there is.

To potential SCTA joiners, the Road Runners (One of the ORIGINAL clubs with the NEATEST logo) need more prestigeus (I.E., fast) members.

Their fastest car is usually a smallblock street roadster, a fast Camero, a 'couple fast bikes  a VERY fast (pew) diesel , a well engineered, but struggling, roadster and a neat six cyl. there's only hangers-on and dreaming wishful thinkers.
Even the hangers on/dreamers are neat guys, but they could use members to compete against the Rod riders and the sinister SDRC, particularly!

(This statement not endorsed by the road Runners or any of their relatives)

Poster NOT a member.

Hopefully the Diesel Mascot of the Roadrunners will put on a good show soon.  So far, we haven't even went WOT once.  I really, really want to bend the accelerator pedal in half (no throttle on diesels) this year on the salt.  Goal is 200mph in a production diesel for Speed Week.  It should have happened last week at Elmo, but the Fuel Injection Gods had other plans. :|

Regardless of the size of any club, be a proud member and support SCTA / BNI . Over the last 71 years and 3rd and 4th generations show what a great back ground we have.

Gear Grinders = great club with 150 members.
