Googled / Binged "riser" and nothing came up on either browser...Is there another term to use?

It's a riser.  Just call Stroud.

Yes, you will have to put up with a lot of questions and he will probably tell you to change the way you were planning to do things.  And he's right.  There is absolutely no one else living who knows more about ground vehicle deceleration than Bob.  So no matter what you have planned, do what he says.
