I hope they'll forward the cards that were sent to his hospital address.  I should have written "Please forward" or something on the one we sent.  Maybe the family will call the hosp. and check to see if there is any mail waiting. . .

Best wishes, and good news to hear he's on the way back home.

richard stepped off his bike in june the get off resulted in a brain bleed and a cracked vertebrae in his neck  the bleed quit but he will wear a neck brace for about 4 months --his brother dave owns bozzie customs in stockton --there dad john was the pilot of the " thing " a twin engine knucklehead drag bike which ran on the west coast from the early 50s --and some dry lake racing the last time it ran was about 3 years ago at kingdon drag strip in northern calif.  dave and richard are both gear grinders this is daves second year of racing and richards 2nd race..i dont think of it as NEWS or rubber necking but as concern for another fellow racer ---when richard feels like it i will talk to him and try to figure out exactly what happened if thats possible                            willie buchta

Willie,

If you saw the bike make a pass in May you would know what happened..the tail wagged the dog and spit the rider...unsafe machine and saddle bags are not needed in this hobby/sport, trying to get the title of worlds fastest bagger is like being the worlds tallest midget..

He crashed..he did not "step off"

Glad to hear he is going to be "OK"

i think the scta rule book refers to it as an upset ---thats the thing if you build an A bike you dont really know how it will handle--laura klock has ran a bike like richards at over 150 mph --the bike had some handling problems at the bub meet   some mods were made then in may it had some problems --the bike was torn completely apart and lots of parts and pieces were replaced and we all see what happened in june-- i really think it was because the engine trans and swingarm are solid mounted to each other and that whole assembly is rubber mounted to the frame and like john said the tail wagged the dog ---the bike will not be coming back although the engine and trans will in an A bike  probably next may --- see you all in july ---hope its cool like june    willie buchta
