Yup, I had some old rubber machine cushions I bolted to the feet as well. While it didn't stop the "ringing" noise the tank made, it did reduce the vibrations in the floor and walls. Nothing is more irritating than watching your dial indicator start dancing when the compressor comes on. I put the compressor in a closet, put in an electric bathroom vent fan up top to evacuate the hot air (only comes on with the compressor on), put a solid core door on the closet, and cut 1" off the bottom of the door to allow fresh air in for the fan. Came out pretty quiet but only after the carpet trick. The Craftsman 80g vertical compressor I used was twice as loud as my old Ingersoll Rand T30. Guess you get what you pay for.
