North American Eagle

There is a pretty nice article in the June issue of Desktop Engineering Magazine about the
NAE. The online story can be read at www.deskeng.com.

The NAE team is at Black Rock this week.  When the Fossett LSR team surveyed the playa last year and could only find 3.5 miles of flat, loose semi-usable track north of Bordello, near the railroad crossing.  We were hoping that the 3rd wettest June in Reno history had helped a bit, but it seems that BRD is still too dry and bumpy.

There is no place on that desert for a full length, two-way record course at this time.

The team has arrived back home after a week in the desert. Eric is right that the playa is still too
soft, crumbly and rough to conduct and serious speed runs. Fortunately, our purpose on this
test session was to finalize testing of our GPS on board system, our wireless ethernet system
and the series of retransmitter towers, our high speed parachute deployment and our ability
to conduct a two way pass within one hour. We did four passes with most not exceeding 350.
All the technologies we needed to test, passed with flying colors. It was a good week!

That's good work.  The logistics and support systems are every bit as important as the car and sometimes much harder to make work.  I'm looking forward to seeing more testing, call me sometime and I can give you the information I researched on the other viable test sites.

Anyone read Landspeed Louises article in the Goodguys Gazette? I guess she regards
the NAE as chopped liver. Not a serious contender!

...Ed.......that is definately good news...!!!

you must be doing the right things....

its abit like the media bashing one past president....

makes it abit more of a challenge to fight the media and
the task at hand........

but it will surely make it oh so much nicer in time......

naysayers are the most valuable assets we could ever have..........

im sure she would be one of the first to congratulate you in fine
form...

Ed has been granted the opportunity to tell us of his entire project on the Friday Night of Bonneville NW Reunion, Friday Feb 12, 2010.

I hope he can finalize the arrangements to make that happen.

After all, he is a BIG ONE among us.

Let's try it the hard way  :-D

I think I better wait for the Reader's Digest version.

I'm running low on coal to stoke the fires in this old machine, any way.

Let me know, after 18 Billion Pounded Dollars, if they run as good as Bob Jackson's Flashpoint.
