« on: June 09, 2009, 02:00:57 PM »
Hey Racers , and SCTA authorities ,

2009 rule book , on page 7 , 1.A  cap letters , YOU MUST HAVE LOG BOOK ... ect.

This is my first build. How and when do I get a log book ? and tech forms ?

I sent a message to the SCTA rules link on the SCTA web site .
I'm sure I'll hear soon , but just to be sure ...

Thanks ,

Jeff

I believe you can only get the log book at the event. Go to the trailor and get a logbook, fill it out before or while in line for tech. easy to fill out, comes with log book number sticker that must be affixed to the chasis. If I'm wrong on this I'm sure someone will chime in.

Ok the links are good now. Sorry about that.----------please be aware that the motorcycle tech sheet is an 08 not an 09 --there are a couple of small changes if someone needs to know i have a 09 sheet and will be happy to give you the updates        willieworld@hotmail.com    the car tech sheet is an 07  and i dont know anything about the car rules ---both sheets and your rule book should give you a good idea of what you need-----------

I thought that I read the they were only $10, right?

Do the log books change any?  If I has to buy one at SW, shouldn't it be good if I wasn't going to use it for a year or two?

This thread has a picture of the logbook. It's about El Mirage but the log book is the same.
http://www.landracing.com/forum/index.php/topic,1611.0.html

No hurry to get one. It only takes a few minutes to fill it out at registration.
Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.
Just remember . . . It isn't life or death.
It's bigger than life or death! It's RACING.

Speaking of logbooks -- and yes, I know this is an SCTA thread -- but at ECTA we motorcycle inspectors require the logbook to be filled out completely BEFORE the bike is presented for inspection.  Too dang many times the owner will appear with a bike, hand me the log/registration -- and they're blank.  Then I -- and every other racer in line behind him -- have to wait while the paperwork is filled out.  And we can't inspect without the paperwork -- 'cause the first item to be checked is "Logbook and registration completed correctly?"

Since ECTA logbooks are now darned near identical with SCTA books -- do your inspectors a favor and complete as much as you can before getting to inspection.   Both the "event" record -- the page that details the event you're at right then -- and the inside front page, which describes the vehicle well enough that there's no question -- that logbook represents that car/bike.  VIN, manufacturer, model, some specifics on modifications made, other factors that will confirm to the inspector that the book is for the vehicle.

Why?  Because when we inspect we need to see if there were items noticed last time -- that needed to be fixed or changed before this next event.  A brand-new logbook for a vehicle that's raced before is a big red flag -- meaning HEY!  Is this guy trying to hide something?

So there's my rant about getting the log book filled out before you show up for inspection.  I know the question was about getting the log in the first place -- and I hope that once you do get it you'll take the extra time to fill out that page.  Thanks.

I dunno how to get a logbook except at an event.  I guess you could try contacting JoAnn at SCTA office, or Tonya or Donna at ECTA (I don't know where you are) since the books are similar.  If you're going to be SCTA racing -- you'll need their book just for the frame sticker that's in a little brown envelope stapled to the inside of the back cover.

Check with JoAnn first.  If I'm wrong, I say to you others out their in internet-land -- well, heck, I'm sorry.  Jeff -- go to EM this weekend and plan to take the extra minutes to fill it out.   If I had my logs handy I'd scan in the front page and let you see what information you'll be needing -- so you could have it all figured out in advance.  For sure -- have your VIN.

Best -- going to bed now.  It's past nine here.
