June 2009 Maxton Meet
« on: June 05, 2009, 10:36:20 AM »
22 more days before the June 27th & 28th meet !

Are you ready ?
What have you got left to do ?

The Firecracker's new motor is on the K-member and with a little help from Kurt Urban the boys managed to massage it to fit with our bellhousing and the motor and trans is in the car and wired up.

Luke, Seth and I hope to earn our "B Licences" this meet.
 :-D

With motors on our minds, here are a few from the last meet ...

No, I'm not ready with a capitol NOT!!!  The 636 didn't like the rain from the last weekend.  Most of the wiring is taken care of.  The big issue was finding a large crack in the swingarm near the rear axle mount.  Maybe that is why the bike was trying to jump out of line over the bumps at 3/4 mile.  We still need to finish up the swingarm replacement, tank modifications and some work on the tail section.  The 179.4 last meet isn't going to cut it for us.  We are looking to see the 180's again.  The work will get done and we are looking forward to seeing everyone there.

125 Land Speed Racing records (including 3 Worlds Fastest Speeds) set since 2008.

Nancy and I plan to be there -- but whether to ride or not is another question.  I got back from Marquette General Hospital about a half-hour ago -- from a quick double-hernia repair.  These things are getting easier -- we left the house at about 5 this morning and here I am, six hours later, at the computer.  But I don't think Doctor B. is thrilled about me riding in three weeks -- so I might just inspect and spectate and take the bikes back home to Skandia.  After all -- we leave for Wendover on the 31st of July -- and that's not all that far away.

But yes, we intend to be in Lovely Laurinburg/Magnificent Maxton in three weeks.

My plans are to be at Maxton in June, likewise.  This will be the first time I've been at a June meet.  Got to keep pushing toward that record.   :-D

IIRC, we got cooked out there last June.  I remember feeling sorry for the bike gang in those leathers halfway down the taxiway waiting out the lunch break.  This year I will be joining them!  Hope it is a bit cooler.

RC,,, come by my pits with your new toy... I will open the hood for you !!  LOL....

Let's hope for 100% dry, low humidity, 80 degrees with a  5 mph cool tail wind.  We all deserve a weekend like that next for our June meet.

I guess you folks in NC won't understand this:

This morning -- 6 June -- we had frost here in Skandia, Michigan.  Not common, but not all that unusual.  It's the third night this week that we had frost.  The forecast for the next six days shows temps no higher than the mid-60s.

I betcha your air conditioning bills are higher than ours.  Don't compare heating bills, though -- the furnace has run just about every day this week.
