MPS-PG
« on: May 29, 2009, 06:16:41 PM »
I am building a Yamaha V-twin for the MPS-PG class. What is advised/legal to use for the crankcase/valve cover breathers? Are bolt on swing arm extentions allowable, as long as they do not change the wheelbase 10% or more?

Willie,
It is an air cooled push-rod engine. The stock wheelbase is 65" and I would like to go to about 68.5".

the 2000 cc mps-pg is 171 mph  do you think that metric cruiser will run that fast  --to break that record you will need about 120 hp with good aero--     willie buchta

Will run 5500rpm, with chain drive, I think it will run close to the 171. The bike has run 168+ on gas. We are trying to improve the aero package, but if my leg sticks out while I'm pushing to get the extra from 168 to 172, that will hurt us.

Cuder,

When I first met Cliff, he came by our pits because he was in frantic need of a nut, for an axle I believe. We dug together through bags of metric hardware and finally found something suitable off an old Suzuki quad engine. Cliff was obviously relieved and pleased. I stopped by his pit later to view the Warrior and I remember commenting that if he was running that fast naked, he should put a body on it.

Can you tell us about the body work that you have planned? Judging from your picture, I assume it is one of Air Tech's Charlie Toy fairings? Good luck with your project. We are all cheering for you.

Scott,
The body was designed by a local engineer that has done design work for various compnaies. He did some of Polaris' sled and watercraft designs. He and Cliff designed and built the body, but never mounted it. When Cliff started with the Liner, the Warrior got put on hold. We are having some issues, but hope to be ready for Speedweek.
