Wobbly Belly
« on: May 29, 2009, 06:19:16 AM »
I would like to build a Bellytank racer for the salt , I have asked all around how to ,and have had some great advise and tech help from the experts who have done it and are still doing it ,it seems to be the main thing about a Bellytank is its length 11 ft ,the experts tell me 15 ft minimum schould be my goal as too short will be a spinner and not stable . I would like to ask the forum what they think . I will be running in the flathead V8 Vintage class ,so we aint talking 500 mph here ! thank you Harry

Hey Joe,
Our car has a 3m wheelbase and I think the original tank was about 4.5m. We wanted to keep the tank in its original length because it was a perfect teardrop and we liked the look of it. That made it a lot of work. If you are going with a flathead you will struggle to fit it all into anything shorter than that. Our driving position is with legs bent up, the gearbox has no extension housing and the tailshaft is one inch long.....................
