If this is posted in the wrong spot please let me know...

Totally new at this and have never built a land speed car.  I am looking at building this 50 Chevy 2dr Fastback.  I am looking to go 150mph and run a SBC.  Are these good cars and body style for this?  Any pointers would be great.  Thanks.

Junky --

Ron Joliffe, who's one smart fellow, ran a 50(?) Olds fastback -- same body -- with a GMC six in it several years ago.  It didn't handle well at speed.  And he's good at speed -- he has the AA and A Street Roadster records at 240 and 233.

Any who -- Ron got a picture of the fastback going thru the lights at Bonneville and was startled to see where the rear tires were.  As I remember, when it was in the pits, the fender line came to just under the top of the wheel.  In the lights the whole tire was visible as the car was almost lifting the back wheels off the ground.

I wouldn't go there.

Tom Finn Jr. almost lost his lifie in one at less than 130 at El Mirage. Many rules changed after his accident.

Just for the record.....No One is satisfied at 150.................Good Luck

I have heard that a lot about the 150.....

Well I have not heard good things about the fastback form multipal other people now as well.  I will do some more digging.   Maybe a stude would be the best route.  A lot of guys have recomended them.

I have seen your car before and wanted to look you up when I am back in Springfield.  Next time I am down that way would love to look at it in person.
