Garage sale tech - 1$ Busa air filter drier
« on: May 10, 2009, 07:03:52 PM »
About the time I get to servicing my air filter before an LSR event, it is 2am and I'm leaving at 4am and I can't wait overnight for the filter to dry before I oil it.

I stopped at a garage sale and saw this bathroom fan. It's rated at 50 CFM and 4 Sones which I think is French for "can't hear it over the Speed Channel".

Anyway, I washed the filter as normal and set the fan in the filter and plugged it in. In 5 minutes the filter was perfectly dry and ready to oil and install.

This type of fan will work with Gen I Hayabusa filters.

.......you all know what a tedious and infuriating job it can be to replace a rear axle bearing without the proper equipment?.....Well I went out and spent $600 a few years back so that I could easily fit the bearing without damaging it, of course it works for the retaining collar as well. In the meantime I cut most of it up and used it to make the frame for the bellytank....all i had left was a 2ft 6 piece........just the right weight and not too long for the axle job......yep you guessed it 1&3/4 inch mild pipe.

Few understand what I'm trying to do but they vastly outnumber those who understand why...................

Unfortunately Shane I still show two question marks on the MAC and two x's on the PC where I assume the links are supposed to be. Fortunately on the other hand your description was clear enough that the links are totally unnecessary. Great idea!

I think Salt in the tubes is largely a function of the mudflap (Saltflap?) coverage on your truck.  My intakes were FULL of Salt.  the airbox had all kinds of junk in it.  Thankfully, the Pipercross filters did their job.  I'd post pics but I can't post them here and don't have them hosted anywhere else.

What do you use for intake plugs?
