Bob Pierson passes
« on: May 01, 2009, 07:06:54 PM »
A hot rodding Pioneer Bob Pierson passed away last night. Bob and his brother Dick built and ran the famous 34 Ford Pierson Bros. coupe that ran at the lakes and Bonneville. Great history on the car and the brothers. They were featured in many magazines over the years.
RIP and God Speed Bob Pierson :-(

I hit 59 this week and I'm in awe of guys that were racing before I was born. Another pioneer leaves us.

If you aren't up to speed on the Pierson brothers, here's a good article.

Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.
Just remember . . . It isn't life or death.
It's bigger than life or death! It's RACING.

If one had to choose a single car that epitomizes Land Speed Racing, the Pierson Brothers' Coupe would have to be on the short list.

My sympathies to Bob's Family and Friends.

Always loved the coupe, but didn't meet Bob until a few years ago at Speed week.  A great guy. We'll miss him.
Dean, that's a great article. Thanks.
I know how fast you were going.

The coupe when owned and run by Tom Bryant.

The car epitomized class in it's era.

One of my all time favorite salt racers.
Met Bob briefly at Speedweek in '98, and he had loads of info.
RIP.
