I guess I didn't even think about running my dirt bike with differnet tires.  Would handling be scary with a stock bike at those speeds?

It's not an issue of handling, it's an issue of what the rules require.

The 2009 rule books are out (although mine hasn't arrived!) so you should be able to get one.

I am currently building a Buell Blast to run in the M-PG 500 class.  Bubs record is about 110 mph and SCTA is around 120.  here is a pic:

I am hoping to go 120+

This is Dan, Aaron sold the company to me abouut a year ago and we were partners in 2007.

Timbo is doing great.  he has almost made a full recovery with just a bit of stiffness now. He is one tough dude that is for sure!

Thanks Dan, Didn't know about the sale.... glad to hear Timbo is doing good.  I didn't know he was riding till I talked to Jon Amo after the races.  I thought Arron was riding when I saw you guys in the trailer taking it apart.

OK back to topic, Nice bike Dan, good luck with the scooter

Thanks, I forgot about BUB!  It's a possibly, if I run Bonneville.  My dad is trying to get me to run El Mirage(another 700 drive for me) because he has a buddy that runs there and lives near by.

Here's the records:

A-AF 500 - 142.602

A-AG 650 - 132.694
A-AF 650 - 159.542

A-AG 750 - 144.481

My stock TT600 weights around 290# wet and has 45hp.  What if I was to lighten it up, raise the horsepower, lower the suspenion, and rake out the forks alittle?  Basicly making a flattracker.  Would raking the front give the bike better high speed stability?  Or should I just build a frame?

Nop, no dyno info.  The factory info says 45hp @ the crank and 39hp @ the wheel.  Stock rake is 28 degrees.  Engine is 595cc.

Wiseco has a 633cc big bore for it.  I thought about putting a TT500 jug on it.  The old TT500 is a two valve and the TT600 is a four valve.  Same motor other than bore (jug) and head.  I'm trying to find the speed rating on the Goodyear/Dunlop flattrack tires, I was thinking that they would work great at El Mirage, maybe Bonneville too.

Good!  That's what I wanted to hear!!  The flattrack bikes are de-raked so they can turn quicker.  I was thinking about finding someone to make me some triple trees to add rake so I don't have to mess with the frame.  If I do it right, I think I might be able to run in Modified Production.

How much rake do I need?

How about the flattrack tires?  Would they work if the speed rating is up there?

Rake... lots of bikes with 24-30 degrees have handled well at speeds exceeding 200 MPH
Tires... what is the speed of the record... that is the rating of the tires you require
Do your homework, ride what you have to start if the tires meet the required speed rating, then you will know what you need to do.
