PJ  , I have not figured out a removable bumper set up yet... Just having fun with the ole 38 Dodge pickup.

May do a bit more pinstriping, may even have something painted on the Moon's (not sure yet).

Well back from vacation,,,, time to get some more work done on the Stude and do some upgrades on the Vicky.

Tonight Joe and I  installed the ISP  "Stealth" Head and Shoulder Restraint system on my seat.  Now the seat cover does not fit so good, I have to take the seat to  Ray Hester ("Upo Man") early this week so he can modify the cover to fit around the head restraint, so Joe and I can get it back in the Vicky this weekend.

I eventually ran 11 mph over my best at Maxton after making my planned sprocket change Saturday afternoon.  Earlier I ran my usual 120 before pooping out around 10,000 rpm due to too tall a gear ratio.  Plus 1 on the rear got me to 127 and some more tips on body position from Shane, thank you, and I bumped to 131.9 mph.  When I ran 131.9 I was at 11,200 rpm which is about as far as i want to take her.    I also want to thank the racer 2 spots over who took the time to help me with my sprocket change.  Next time I will go ahead and remove the caliper from the bracket.  It was easy off but a bit of a pain on reassembly.

With a half mile less to work with at Maxton, and probably no tailwind I will need to shorten the ratio a bit more but I only need 122.5 there.  I think I am finally starting to get a grip on gearing and my technique is slowly improving as well thanks to a lot of patient racers.

Great job Milt... hope to see you set the record at Maxton in Sept...

With proper gearing, a cool morning, and good position on the bike,,,,, you CAN go 125.xxx and get the record by a few MPH.. not just a few 10th's... you don't need no stinking tail wind.. you can do it... (hmm, but the tail wind can sure help... lol)

See you soon.

That's a nice looking truck.  Motorbooks has published a few books on the history of lake racing.  This truck matches the style of the older lake cars in the book.  It is a Traditional Rod.  One things missing.  A wolf whistle on the manifold.

Wobbly, thanks... That is what I was trying to recreated.  Something "that might have been" and staying on my Team Motif  (like the Vicky and the new Studebaker)

As an aside,,,  My Crew Chief  "Nitro" Joe Atwell  came up with a paint scheme  that sticks with the Team  Satin Black with Red and White,,, yet adds a bit of ZIPP,, to the look of the car... Spoke with our painter and he feels good about the slight change..

I can't wait to unveil the car...Hope in September for Maxton,, but for sure in October..

To the folks that follow my Studebaker build diary... I will post all the build pics as we continue to make progress, But I "may" not publish any pictures of the final paint job/assembly until it debuts at Maxton.. (potential Magazine deal has asked me to hold of on me showing off "finished exterior" pictures)..

  Class, class, and more class!  The license plate bracket angle is perfect,  Shows how a REAL hot rodder looks at things!   Just a little out of skew!  As usual, nice work Charles, hope my truck looks half as good when it's done!     Crow.
