Charles,

We will pit where we pitted in June its just easier for us to pull the car around the loop.
I like the looks of the seat just not sure if i have enough room for with the funny car cage,
but need to do something before we can go 200.
Good luck with the build.

See on chat tonite if i make it.

Nice seat, Charles, and super that it's made with a form of your shape -- so it'll fit properly and be able to do the job for which it's designed -- that's protect you.   And the vise grips -- wonderful backyard racer's touch.

Charles, doesn't the rule book state that the seat cushion can't be thicker than 1"????

GH,,  Yes you are correct on the 1" seat cushion.

The foam "cushion" and cover are just a fraction under 1" thick,,, It looks thicker becasue It is not pressed down in the seat area.  The Head Rest Cushion is denser foam and just about 3/4 thick,,

So all padding is within the rules when secured in place.

Jon,, Vice Grips ??  Man you have a keen eye,,, I guess I will remove them before driving.. LOL

Gary,   Ahh I looked at the pic and now I see where you could think the "seat padding/cushion" is thicker than 1 inch...  If You are looking at the Butt/Bottom of the seat pan ,  see how it is curved to support under my thighs and A$$ area ??   The seat floor has another contoured bottom welded on top of seat pan bottom, it is shaped and contoured for support... the actual padding is less that 1 inch.  I will remove the cover and take a pic for you.

Like I said  this seat was "custom made" for my big frame,,,

GH,  here are 3 pics showing the butt/bottom of seat and under thigh supports built in seat.

Custom contoured to fit me

Another view of the support

Look between my fingers and you can see cover/pad is thin. 1/2" maybe at max.

When sitting in my other "non supported"  flat bottom race seat all the body's weight is more on tail bone.

This new seat fits like a glove and supports weight evenly across entire length and width of seat bottom, feels comfy and secure.

Robbie,

I was just thinking,, since you have a funny car cage in your car,,, my style seat and larger head and shoulder support system may be to wide for your setup..

You still have a couple of choices.

1. if your FC cage has the needed lateral head support, then you could get a custom low back seat like mine from ISP and not get the high back head rest or the head and Shoulder Supports. Using the FC cage bars as lateral head and shoulder supports with appropriote SFI Padding added.

OR

2. Joe Timney  can get you a very nice seat from UltraShield and it seems a bit smaller and may fit inside your existing FC cage set up.  (and the prices are real fair as well from Joe..

Gary,,  NO NO,,, I did not take it wrong,, I am very glad you where pointing that out to me..

You see I expected that an "inspector" may or could look in the car and see what you saw and think that the padding was to thick...  So your post just helped prepare me for that eventual question in Tech line.

I am going to make sure to have a printed build album in Tech to show all the items that may raise a question... like the seat,,, but it is easy to un smap the cover to show them that,,, but at 100+ degrees in the sun, I would rather address the question before it is asked...

Thanks again and please as the build goes on KEEP letting me know or pointing out areas of Concern, Potential Concern and or ideas to help me,,,, I am a ROOKIE.. and can sue all the help Ican beg, borrow or steal.
