Thanks  Jerry,,, man I wish your bender was portable and your plate was not so full. GREAT work, you know much more than we do and it shows.... QUALITY work..

I am about out of funds and patience, yet I have to get this cage done... I am at the Mercy of others schedule and my exhausted budget...

Thanks again, Looks like even if we build the std 12 point cage,, this funny car part can just be added in ??

I will blow your pics up and study them....

Here are a few more pics with the body lowered on the frame, fitting the fiberglass one piece front and and the original steel rear quarters.   Once we get it in the final position we will begin the cage, then remove the body for final fit and full welding of the cage to the frame.

PJ,, thanks man,, the stance is even better in person, the lift and other things around that area of the shop will not let me get a full side profile pic.. But we are working hard on fit, finish, ride height/stance.

Rear shocks and springs just came in today.  Should be better pics coming after we thrash Friday and Saturday

Cajun, sorry if you already posted this but what size tires do you plan on running? Also awaiting what you plan on doing for cage layout and seat mounting.
Great build up.

Dan,  I plan on doing a 12 point cage and trying to either copy Jerry O's funny car cage add on or see if he can come build it for me !!!   Seat mounting will be thru the floor directly to the frame  2x4  .120  or the X braces. and braced and bolted to the cage as well.

Since the body is removable, we will use the traditional "A" Pillar down legs from main hoop (not Halo) we will be able to get full 360 degree welds on all joints and will have .120 plate open corner gussets at all tube junctions.  Under the Floor we will also use X and K bracing.

Thanks Terry,,  last night we bounced around a couple of two tone paint options vs some scallops.

Main paint scheme will be Satin Black with White and Red Lettering (Like the Vicky)....

Well we lowered the motor and tranny in to measure for motor and mid mounts.  Got motor at correct position and set in place.  making motor and mid mounts and trans crossmember.  Main cage hoop and such should be tacked in first of the week.   Here are a few more pics as of today at 5pm.

Looking good.  Love those SBC's!

Your build pictures have been a big help in setting my rear design.

It's starting to look like a Studebaker land speed race car, good work, enjoy it while you are building it because after it's done all you get to do is clean the salt and RUST off it.

Gary,  We are making the front end and body fully removable, all the cage parts will have open corner and or tubular gussets so as not to trap/hide the salt.  I have tried to take away as many good ideas from all you salty veterans and incorporate them in my build... hmm and even a few ideas and creations of mine and Larry's..

Thanks again,, it felt good to see the motor frop right in and look at home in there,,,,, Hope my Lil 255 cu in "E" SBC  can haul the weight... LOL

Charles, looking good   one thing you may want to check on is your bellhousing  that your are useing. I was told that the quarter master bellhousing didnt meet  the SFI sec's that you needed to run the car?  I think there are 6.1 6.2 6.3  nows the time to change if you need to hope your ok with it  but i would look into it anyway.

MK,,  I was told this STEEL Quarter Master Bell housing was SFI spec...

After your post, I called CV Race products where I bought the entire setup, trhey called QM and you are CORRECT , they did not submit it for SFI testing... Darn,,,

What am I to do ?   It is a 1/4"  Steel Blowproof bellhousing and I am using the duel disk clutch with button and fles plate,, not stnadard heavy flywheel..

Is this OK,,, or is the SFI rating the only pass/fail test ?

Anyone know ?

I understood the rule to be "steel bellhousing"  I thought the QuarterMaster was SFI certified,,, bud sadly it is not...

Is the main concern the "STEEL"  or the SFI cert ?
