PJ  gave me a few good ideas last night... I am going to use the tow hook mounting area and make a twin receiver removable push plate.

I have 6 weeks to do a 4 hour job... heck I may just be ok with that deadline  LOL

Way back in my teen years my cousin and I had fun rebuilding our '47 Pontiac 2-door "fastback" - with the straight eight engine.  Ah, little did we know. . .  But that's not why I'm writing.  Back then we bought lots of parts and pieces from J c Whitney, also known as Warshawsky.  Both companies sent out catalogs, and when we finally got into downtown Chicago to visit - we discovered that they were one in the same -- with doors opening on one side of the building as J C Whitney, and doors on the other side as Warshawsky.

Their quality was about as funky as the idea of two names on opposite sides of the building -- pretty lame.  I haven't bought from them in more than 45 years, and just their longevity might mean that they've cleaned up their products.  But as kids from lower Michigan, traveling into Chicago to buy cheap parts was grand fun.

And the Pontiac did run again.  It was the first engine I tore down and put back together -- no manual, no shop help, heck, no torque wrench.  It sure was forgiving. . .

Jon,  they still have lots of el cheapo lame parts, but they also direct ship and sometimes stock name brand stuff.

The hitches in question are Curt and Hidden Hitch,, both very good top shelf stuff.

Drive safe ,

You folks oughta live way up north.  Many trucks up here have mounts for snowplows - and therefore a good base on which a push bar can be added.  No big deal that way.

Of course, not too many racers live up here. . .

Well - I do remember that it was so smooth and quiet running that about all you could hear when the engine was running -- was the water moving through the heater core.  It really was nice - for the passenger car.  I did lots of my early driving in that vehicle.  Ah, tube radio, three speed on the column, under-the-rear-seat heater -- what else could I have wanted?

Well, to have the motor today so I could hold someone's race budget hostage, that's what I'd do with it.

Whoa -  Charles - I thought you were going to Speedweek.  You're heading out for WOS?

I'll actually be able to see the "Suedebaker"?

Looking forward to meeting you!

Damage?  If you are referring to post #840, he's not talking about repairing the car, but building/fabricating a removable push bar for the front of his truck.
