Looking great Charles. Three things:
1. Take a spare steel rod end in case someone doesn't like the aluminum one supporting the steering column.
2. I hope you're not covering the switch pod. The more cool air the MSD box gets, the better.
3. Make sure you're inspectors aren't looking for thread showing beyond the nuts. I know you've got enough thread, having changed a lot of stock car wheels, but some inspectors may not.

Ed,

You are correct about how picky I am and how I like everything to be perfect before the car runs.  But with next weekend being my only chance to run the car "local" before hauling 22 hours to Loring in July and even a longer haul to B'Ville in Aug or Sept... I guess we will bring it for tech and a few shakedown passes "if able" to,,, we will not let the final graphics and paint to keep us away,,, as long as we are finished mechanically we will be there.  (we may pull a 6am to 10pm day on Tues and Thur, and make final decision on Friday)

Charles

I'm being really selfish when I say this, because I'd like a chance to see this thing up close.

I won't be at SW, but I will be at WOS . . .

. . .  so take your time, Charles! :-D

This Stude is world class!

Well, I guess we're making a LOT of progress . . .

PJ,

The lugs are not torqued down yet, just hand tight (and there is one thread showing, when tight maybe 2 threads will show and 1 thread showing is enough to pass tech anywhere) with even 1/2 a thread showing it proves the lugs are fully enagaged in the studs... I know what you are saying and have heard of arguments on the Salt on this exact situation.

I don't mind picky....they are there to help keep us safe... As long as they are open to an honest and fair evaluation of any item they feel is questionable (two way com unication is the key,, not arguments)

Charles,
Car is looking fantastic, very nice work. When you have time can you let me know how the rear window install went? I'll be spraying ours next weekend and have some concerns on fitting the trim in the rubber. Do I install the glass and rubber first than trim, or does the trim need to be in as it's all being set?
Good luck at Maxton and I'll see you at Bonneville.

Charles, in Bakersfield we put a lawn sprinkler on top of the shop on hot days and the evaporation cooled things down.  I am not sure that would work there but it might be worth a try.

Larry's shop is an older Metal building  about 12,000 sq. ft with approx 14 foot tall ceiling.

I am not sure what would work,, my shop has AC  but to much work to move to my place for final assembly (which was the plan, but we ran out of time)

Charles Darlin' you are so close now!!  Don't get discouraged this close to the finish of your build!!  We're all going to miss your build diary, but the finished "Lady" will be worth it!  Can't wait to see her on the salt!!

Several small details have started to add up and hours behind schedule have turned into days.  We have not been able to work as many hours each day due to the 95 to 100 degree temps inside the shop.  Larry and I are just weak and dragging our tails by 4 or 5pm each day.

Getting the car done in time to load up tomorrow afternoon is looking like a stretch and by rushing it, I am afraid we may overlook something.  We are going to start at 6:00am while it is cool and see how much we get done.

TODAY was a good day in one respect,,, we got the engine all buttoned up and started and ran it through two heat cycles to check all the plumbing.,.  I had planned on test driving it around the compound, but the driveshaft was not ready until 4:30 today. Oh well hope to test drive and check alignment, brakes and clutch tomorrow.

IF ALL goes 100% perfect and on schedule with no little gremlins or setback we may get done..  Either way I will be at Maxton Saturday morning with or with out a car to race.

Oh,, later I will post 2 videos of the engine running.
