Correct, no funny cage... max speed 225 (reocord is 212.xxxx) I am to big to get in and out of FC cage.. See prior pics on build diary or photobucket of the containment seat. Frame is 2x4 .120 wall and 2x3 .1875 wall and 2x2 .250 rear crossmember Cage is 1 3/4 .120 wall DOM Cage Tubular Gussets are 1" .120 wall DOM Frame Crossmembers and other cross members 1x2 .120 Initial Test Run weight for Maxton will be 3,800 to 4,000 lbs Designing provissions to add up to 600 more lbs low ballast (if needed for the salt) 3,800 to 4,000 is heavy for Maxton and may be about right for LTA Who knows,, It may actual drive and run good the way it is ?? Charles, I ran 219 at 4300 lbs and it handled well on the salt. When I stuffed the BBC in it I couldn't drive the car. Now I am at 5300 and its a handfull, but I have about 250 more h.p. Maybe more nitro will help............... If it doesn't go faster this year, I am going to sue the Langlo's for leading me astray....

Good luck Bob,
I do not have anywhere near the HP you have... just a little "E" motor.
With the setup and weight I have,,, I can only hope to handle well,,, and your 219mph would be great if I could ever do that with the E motor.
I just hope my Stude does as well in it's class as the many ones that came before and have inspired me.
Like yours, Gary's, and Hooley's

I sure like the way it all comes apart. You musta been listening well to some salty veterans around here. It will be a lot more complicated, as you stated, when it's plumbed and wired, but well worth the effort. The only thing we've found that gets in more places than salt, is Elmer dust. But it doesn't do the damage and it's a long way from the right coast. See you in August.

Stan,
Yes everyone told me how bad the salt is to clean up after and how it gets in places you can not see.
The Plumbing will stay with the chassis as will all the wiring. (notice the switch panel and box where ignition goes, to my right above shifter) Even once plumbed and wired, the body will still lift off with just a few more steps.
It took a lot of thought and extra bracing and super strong firewall and rear fire/blast wall to make the body stiff enough to lift off,,, but all of our work (and LARRY's talent) seems to have paid off so far....)
I am so excited and can now see the finish of the build right arounf the corner. After discussions with Joe T and Dan Warner.... I have decided to build a step pan and test fit before we disassemble the chassis. That should not take more than a few hours.
Happy Easter
Charles

The plan is (somwhat dependent on cash, sponsorship and going fast enough at LTA)
Is to bring the Stude to the Salt this year.

Ok, Back at the Stude build, Maxton was GREAT this past weekend, but I was a little down not having the Stude finished as expected (and 4 other Studes there, all doing well).. But at least the Vicky made her fastest pass ever on Saturday. 152.8xxxx so all in all a good weekend... very fast speeds, track in the best shape ever, seemed like the largest crowd ever too.
Ok,, now we hit overdrive on getting my Stude ready for June.

Charles that sounds good, I know it's difficult with the new car build and running the Vicky. You have the time now to finish it up and get the first lap in. Nice speed on the Vicky.

Stan,
It was the slower "C" motor. The "E" motor only has 6 passes on it from 2008 and is now in the Studebaker.
I hope to run the Studebaker with the "E" motor at Maxton in June.
