Charles.

Your car is looking great; you all have been very busy!  It's a real treat seeing a Studebaker with fenders and wheels.

Bob,

I looked at the rules and looks like spill plates are ok in Classic Gas Altered... I have seen many pics of 53/54 Studes with spill plates.. ??

Are you saying they are not legal ? or just make sure mine conform to the size restrictions.

Any help is much appreciated,,, (we have also made the entire spill plate/spolier as a 3 pc unit and it can be un bolted and altered if needed on the spot,,, but hope it is ok fom the get go)

Charles, maybe I misunderstand your "air convergence" statement.  The spill plates must be parallel, and flat in plane.

Thats what makes this site so great for all of us.  I have misread the rules more than once, and more than once information on the site has pointed me in the right direction again.
Don't, however, take anything as Gospel, especially if its from Stainless or any of those two wheel weirdo's........ :-D......................Bob

Bob,

I just read the entire rule book  SCTA  09  and I saw the rules on the roof rails, size, placement and parallel ect,

I also read the spoiler and side plates section. From what I have read and with the help of the folks on the this site,, I "think"  I am ok,,, but as a back up, we have built in adjustability, adaptability and removability in to many aspects of this build,,,

I am not going to haul all the way to the Salt and be turned away,,, we are doing everything we can to unload and pass tech the first time with NO ISSUES,, but if we have to make changes we will.

Thanks again for all your help,,, it is VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.

Charles..

Spoiler Pics,,,

Gosh I hope this is OK,,, I read and re read the 09 rules till I was punch drunk, then said what the heck,, now it is built and installed,,, here goes,,,

The plan is to either Powder Coat or Anodize  the spolier and side plates (either way will be more durable than paint)

As you may see, the last inch of the flat horizontal spolier is angled up in this pic 30 degrees, we have 15, 30 and 45 degree lips made up as well as larger ones if needed. (this piece is removable with just five bolts)

We still have to put the turnbuckle braces under the spolier to the base of the trunk for strenght and support from sagging.  The entire unit is .100 thick alumimum,, but we will brace them too.

Chute just came in today,, maybe work on that tomorrow (if we arn't redoing this darn spolier)

Fred,

Bonneville 2010 is the plan,   Speed Week is the Primary Focus for our trip out West.
World of Speed is the back up plan.

Looks like the Stude will be done by end of Feb. and debut at Maxton in April.

I will be doing Loring and if we can break 200mph there,,,then I may have some sponsorship to get me to SW

Looks good Charles. Why not carry an absolutely flat plate too. You may find that you that you can run fully trimmed out.

PJ,  that is a great tip,,, we will make a flat plate as well... the 15 degree looks darn near flat, but laying a flat one next to it you can see the differance.

Robbie,  thanks man,, yep the chute came in less than 3 weeks (even with the Thanksgiving Holiday)

Working on the final cardboard mock up. Could not finish the combo mount until the chute and spolier where both here.

I think the mount and chute pack will come out Ok.

Keeping in mind we are just a bunch of country bumpkin, back yard builders and wanna be racers  :-D the build might come out OK

Charles Darlin, if you're coming to Speed Week, then somebody better let me know when you're racing so that I can make a "sneak" get away and come out to see you race!!  I have put in a few requests from other racers to do the same, but so far, only a couple have managed to let me know!  Of course, if the start line is as close as it was for World Finals, I could watch you from Land's End....not the same, but could at least see you for that first mile or two!!
