I should have enough weight low down that any reports to the FAA will be from the sonic boom from my new headers... not from a low altitude tower buzz..

Some years back on the salt Gordon Hoyt was on a run in his modified roadster and a low flying chopper came down just over the car for a photo shoot and the prop wash caused the car to spin. To say Gordon was pissed off.....well you know and he never lacked for words.

Well my plans are to go fast enough that a news chopper can't keep up !!!

Charles Darlin,

You just make sure that any low flying you do is with the wheels touching and if you don't have a pilot license...you can't fly low anyway!!  Also, make sure you don't go out the back door...you could get into trouble doing that...somebody might yell atcha.. or take your points away...or not let you run anymore for a few races...or....slap you silly for scaring everybody!!   :-o

I wonder. . .

In '03 I was the "talent" in a photo shoot by Nikon - to introduce a new camera they were bringing out.  Part of their publicity included me riding the bike at 60-80 mph across the salt -- with their photographer standing on the landing skid of a helicopter and shooting frame after frame of me.  The chopper's skid was as close as 5' from me a good part of the time - and I wasn't unduly affected by the air blast.  It was a bit of a bracing feeling, knowing the craft was flying that close -- but the wind didn't make the bike bobble at all.

Where did you get that cool stool ? ,,, what a striking  TV Pose ?

Maybe we need to get some action shots and press like that at Maxton too?

It's only Nov 22 and I miss racing already !!!

Oh well back to the design table,,, got to get a head start on tomorrow....

That's just my regular rollaround stool for the shop/pit/  You can usually see it under me at Tech at Maxton.  Nancy took the photo of me, bike, and 'copter -- while Nikon was doing a video interview from straight-on.  It was fun, I admit -- they chased me up and down the salt - shooting photos from a Mustang convertible, a mini-van with the camera mounted on the end of a long pole and sticking out the side door -- so the camera could be almost on the ground (as we were moving along at 50 or 60 mph!), and from the 'copter.  They took something like 10,000 exposures and an hour or so of video over the two days -- all for ONE photograph they used in the magazine ad.  At least a dozen staffers -- and none but Nikon cameras were allowed on the scene.  If you had one that said "Canon" or "Kodak" -- they'd kindly ask your forbearance and then cover the "offending name with a bit of masking tape.  REALLY!

But they paid me just enough to pay for the spare engine I had to put in (I had blown up the race engine the week before, at WF).  Ah, fame has its' costs.

Hey Kid,

Wishing your daughter the best and hoping she is doing well and will recover quickly.

Have a great Thanksgiving.

Please remember and pray for our country and our troops that make it possible for the rest of us to enjoy the time together.

Thanks to all my LSR friends and family for the kind thoughts and prayers.  My Daughter Caity came home today about Noon. Yesterdays surgery went well and she should only be on crutches for two weeks. (hope this actually fixes the problem this time).

Yes this truly is a time of and for Thanksgiving.

I wish you all a very safe and Happy Thanksgiving

Thanks for the update on your daughter.  Glad things are well.  It's always a worry when you hear about health issues.  Good health to all!
