Tsalt... I won all the bets.   Even with my 3.70 gearing the lil Vicky was  hauling the mail on the big end,, I was gaining 28mph from the 1/8 to the 1/4   I was not getting into high gear until the 1000 ft mark.

I made it to the top 4 and lost in a double break out in the semi final...

My best run before the semi finals was 11.36  124mph...
So for the semi final round I dialed in a 11.30, I was running against an Altered who dialed a 11.63

I had to spot him off the tree, he had a .070 reaction time, I had a .074 reaction time,  I caught him at the 330 ft mark and so I short shifted into 3rd to slow it up a bit, then at the 1000ft mark I still had him by 2 car lenghts but he was still charging, when I knew I had him covered,  I rolled all the way out of the throttle and coasted thru the traps beating him by  a full car length.

We both broke out,, I ran a 11.20 at 116mph my fastest ET, and slower MPH because I was scrubbing speed to not break out lowered my mph, but he went through at  11.60 and 111mph,,, his fastest time and fastest mph,, guess he was charging to catch me while I was slowing,,, oh well I missed the money round due to driver error,, It's hard not to cross the finish line first,,

So  that 11:20  was my best time,,,If the car would hook a little better,,, I know it can do a high 10 sec pass with no changes.

Well even though I did not win, I had fun and advanced further that I thought I would after over 20 years since my last drag race.

Oh by the way Robbie Davis (stratman)  brough his big 440 mopar and we ran out LSR cars side by side on out first dial in runs.
We all had a blast.

Charles

Thats cool, congrats.
Now go to 4.56 rear, a 350 shot of "naus", leave on the bottle and you'll probably go 9.90 :-D

Tsalt,

I have never been a fan of HP in a bottle... I just like to get as much as I can per cubic inch from a single carb.

That Zmax dragway was one impressive place, I had fun and will probably do some more drag  racing with the Vicky, since the Stude will be the primary LSR car.  But our LSR family is so much better,,, even in low key deal like Friday night the drag race mentality is not like our LSR family.

I have an extra center chunk with a Detroit Locker and 3.25 gears,, I am going to regear it for the 1/4.. maybe  4.13's or 4.30's.. not sure but think 4.56 might be to low,, unless I use the 4.56 with my 27" tires for the 1/8 and use 29 or 30 tall for the 1/4 ??

JD,  thanks,,,, but Robbie (stratman)  had a loaner fuel regulator and it was no better than his others.  He is going to upgrade and get a new fuel pump and regulator and be back strong at Maxton in April.

He lost fuel pressure on his run when he and I did a side by side dial in run Friday.  All was not lost for him, they went to ISP and got fixed up with a head and shoulder support. It  was just fin for us to both be pitted together at Zmax and get a run,,, all them drag boys liked our LSR  cars.  Since both Robbie and I drag raced many years ago, we did get to see a few of the guys we ran against and watched in the 80's.

I hope to have a few more progress pics of the Studebaker up by Sunday.  Have mounted the rear quarter panels, the trunk and doors.. getting ready to install the pedals, shitter, and work on dash/guage layout on Friday afternoon.

Thanks for following my build (this one is taking longer than expected,,)

I don't think this requires me to add another word to the Curse filter.  It's too good to hide.  Thanks, Charles, for the great typo.

OK, I knew boys need to be boys ??

Now  MR.  Thunder !!!  I am doing all I can to make sure there is no spin... but as you well know

"spin"  happens     LOL... Hopefully all the homework will pay off and prevent spins, but if it does as long as it stays on all 4 tires and the only thing I am cleaning up is the smell,,, I can deal with that.

Robbie,  yeah my brother,, we can do some celebratory eating after a good day at the track.

Charles,

Looking good. In the picture with you in the car, is there any roll-cage or frame structure outside you left arm in the elbow area? Just curious.

Desoto,, in that pic it was an exagerated grip on the wheel to see how much room between my elbow and the door and cage bars.  I will have a bar just below there, the shoulder supports and a full door net to make sure my left arm can not leave the confines of the cage.
