15-1/2 inches is high center of the plate ....  Charles, your chariot awaits.

I decided on chassis Hammerite silver ... I just happen to have some in the shop (2 gallons)

I am going to try the Comfort Inn ... If they will have me ... Have to get my brothers credit card to book as he always lets me do that with my card and then forgets to pay his half ... I am planning on doing the same to him this time ... "do unto others before they do unto you" ...

So, Charles, how did it go at the ECTA Monster Mile? Have fun and go fast, I hope.

GH, Maxton was fun,,, Friday was HOT around 93 and humid. Got the car unloaded and tech'd.  All was fine (I had no crew, but the LSR spirit a couple of bike guys helped me out. Joe and Tom Daly and Eric "Racer X")  Without them I would have never got unloaded and tech'd.  Thanks Guys.

Saturday (race Day 1)  was HOTTER and more Humidity. 97 or more degrees , felt like 105.   Lines moved fast, made my first "shakedown pass"  at 158.6xxx mph. This record run bumped the previous record by 18mph+ (not bad for a "soft shakedown pass").

After lunch, I was ready to make a full throttle pass, got a great push start from Joe Daly and hit my shift changes perfect, had a good line over the bumps, after the 5/8 mile bump I glanced at the GPS, it was 166 and car was accelerating hard, I pressed the gas pedal down harder and POP, car nosed down wagged it's tail, I pulled the chute and mover off to the right of the racing groove, and took short shutdown to clear the track.
I had No idea what happend until I was getting out of the car and saw the gas pedal limp against the firewall.  Broke the 1/4 28 threaded rod ferrel that attaches cable to carb,

Man, that had to be a 180 or so run in the making,, all spoiled by a $4.99 part.

All in all it was a good debut for my Stude at Maxton, had great fun (other than the heat)

I hope it is dry and cooler in October,,, Hope for a 175 to 185 run with that Lil "E" motor.

Oh by the way... On Saturday I had Help from John Shell (who is almost done with his Studebaker build) and Hooley Huffman was helping me as well,, it was great to meet him and have him hang around,, rumor has it he and his Stude will be racing at Maxton with us in April..  also  Terry and Lawson from Blackbird SC racing helped me with the initial throttle repair and loading up too.

Thanks to all those who pitched in to help me, I could not have done it alone.

See you all in October..

Hello Charles. I hope you don't mind my posting this. I was sitting next to you in the staging lanes when you fired her up and I couldn't resist taking this vid. Sounds as good as it looks!
