Dan,

That is a 2012 potential project.

I have to recover from this build first and I have to figure out this darn clutch issue...

This is very rare for me/us,,, normally everything works with just minor tweaks needed.. this clutch not working is more than MINOR to me,,, it is MAJOR  more so because I have no idea what is wrong or how to fix it..

The diameter of the piston in the master cylinder is usually marked somewhere on the outside. If you do not have a large enough piston or a long enough stroke you won't get the .250 travel required to release your clutch (.110  clearance +.140 to release per QM chart). Check how much the master cyl piston is actualy moved by the pedal linkage.
Unless it's crazy, ambitious and delusional, it's not worth our time!

Did you bleed the master cylinder?

Peter, yes we did,,, we do not have a pedal stop, so we may have over traveled the release bearing piston as a few posters on here have mentioned.  If we have, I would guess we have to take it out and press it back in place and start over ....

Try to isolate the problem area before yanking stuff apart...    Verify master passes fluid when pedal depressed, then verify that flow before entering the slave. Then crack the bleeder on the slave and verify again.  Then you know it's the slave and you can tear it apart. I'm as close as the phone.     vic

Charles,

Car is beautiful!  Better than the computer image.  Very nice job!

The clutch...  I only found one listing for the master cylinder at 3/4 bore.  Going by the chart this will give .36 inch travel at one inch of m/c travel.  Your pedal (I guess) has 7:1 ratio.

You need .110 free play and .140 to release the clutch (again a guess).  This requires about 5 inches of travel at the pedal.  More than that and you can push the bearing out too far eventually cocking it and causing a jam.  Less than this and the clutch will not release.  A pedal stop is needed.

The info at: http://www.racingclutches.com/~rclutch/prod_imgs/pdf/900117%20Universal%20Bearing.pdf    is very good.

Geo,,,

I think we have to much pedal travel and cocked the piston out  and jammed it,,, that makes the most sense.

Larry may be able to get this resolved Monday,,, if not,,,

Vic aka "Krusty"  knows this stuff and he is just 35 minutes away,,, I think he can help Larry resolve this for me since I will not be in the shop next week.

Like PJ told me a few minutes ago,,, get a good nights sleep and I will have a better perspective in the morning.. I am just wound to tight right now,,, I guess I am just use to having things go right the first time (most of the time)  LOL

Geo

Geo,

Thanks for the kind words and compliments... I am very pleased with the fit and finish, both inside and outside.

I was very concerned that the actual car would not look like the art work.. I am very happy that it came out well.

The pictures I have posted do not do the car justice,, it sure does look better and meaner in person,,, thn when you hear her run !!!! whew gets me excited just thinking about it,,,

Charles, the car looks great   I may have to have you design the paint scheme on my next build!
Keep up the good work.

Don't know about you, but that made me ready for the salt!!      :-D

Enjoy the beautiful art you have created!

Thanks Lynda, Terry, Randy, PJ, Geo, Vic  etc...

I had a good nights sleep and I will let Larry and whomever he can consult with fix the clutch,,,

Best thing for me is to chill out... I am sure it is something minor,,, but ya know,,, I am high strung and hyper LOL

I am working in my shop today and getting stuff together to rig the trailer up to carry the Stude and Bradley's  bike to Maine.

Ironies of racing!  bled the clutch on the RMR today and noticed a drip drip drip  from the bellhousing. Ain't nuttin' in there with liquid but the slave cylinder!  :x  Oh, well, engine/trans out one more time; Monday I'll rebuild the slave (i.e., replace the seal).  Perhaps you should ignore my advise.  :-D       vic
