Well the work resumes,,,,

Today Me and Larry made some progress.

We mounted the radiator, final fit the front end,,, worked on the hood mounts and pins,,, The hood to fender fit is not as good as I like,,, So Larry has some glass work to do.  I would have thought buying the complete one piece glass front end and hood from the same place,, it would have fit better.. I guess the fit is average,,, but  not to our usual quality or expectations.. Oh well just adds another day to the schedule.

More progress today,,, but slow and tedious,,,

I HATE BODY WORK and FIBERGLASS WORK..

Joe came by and  helped me fit the hood,, then Larry and I worked on getting all the body lines and gaps as tight and perfects as possible,,, Did I say I hate FIBERGLASS WORK,,,, I am still spitting out that dust...

The Hood and One Piece Front End,, even though they came from same manufacturer,,,, sure needed some help in fitting well,,, I may be to picky,,,???

It's fpr sure,,, we will NOT be ready for April and Maxton with the Stude,,, I will be there with the Vicky,,,

Stude will be there in June, Sept, Oct.... Loring in July/Aug and SW (if she does well and LTA and I have the cash)

Fitting the hood/eliminating the big gaps cannot be overlooked if you want to go real fast @ the Salt. You know that; don't think of it as being too picky. Concentrate the effort on the things that affect the speed.     vic

Charles, the problem is probably not in the manufacture.  Studebakers had ill fitting front ends, and even the steel ones seldom line up.
You are trying to fill a gap of up to a half inch on each side of the stock hood, and they fit worse at the grill area
My suggestion would be to fit the fenders and hood at the firewall, line it up at the grills, and fill the rest......................Bob

Thanks HS,

Yeah we had to cut, bend, and add glass to fit hood nice and tight.  We should have be able to finish a few chassis items and then remove the body this week.  Then take a break to get the Vicky and the Race Trailer ready for Maxton. Once we get back from Maxton then go FULL SPEED ahead on final paint and reassembly, then the tedious wiring, plumbing and interior finish....Oh my a lot is behind us, bit still a bunch to do.
