Logbook and number

Hi, I'm new to this so this may be a silly question but here goes:

If I wait to get to the track to purchase a logbook and get a number, how does the number get displayed on the vehicle? I have looked at an old Maxton rulebook which details size and location of the "board" for the number display. Should I make something to bring with and put the number on once its assigned?

They are coing to want you to attach it to the chassic some where---usually on the roll cage on cars. main frame on bikes where it can be seen!!!!!

The logbook number matches a chassis sticker which you apply somewhere easily seen on your chassis.  This sticker is only about 2 sq. in. and is not your vehicle competition number.  How you get that from ECTA -- don't know!

So there are two numbers? One the logbook number and the other the competition number. The sticker (logbook number) answers parts of my confusion um question. Where does the competiton number come from. Is that assigned, can I make it up? Do the Gods of Speed come to me in my dreams?

If you are planning to run ECTA they have a block of Veh. numbers assigned to them. Contact ECTA on their web site. See cover page for the address. If you are running the east coast this is the best bet. You can run the same number at Bonneville (SCTA/BNI)  Not sure how Bub or other venues control their numbers

terry       the vehicle log book number will come with a identification sticker that matches the log book number that permanently attaches to the frame/chassis not to be confused with the vehicle number  and class number or letters  --my log book number is 3212  my vehicle number and class is 349  sc-pg                          willie buchta

But we're talking about Loring I realized.  We could all be wrong -- but I'd bet if you got an ECTA logbook and Comp. number, they'd recognize it.

 I believe I read elsewhere that you plan to run a bike you're riding up. What is common at the ECTA is to use painters tape on the rear tailsection of a bike and possibly the fender/seat if there is room with the numbers & class written on with a sharpie. The goal is for our starter to be able to easily read it. If it's the bike in your avatar it may prove to be more of a challenge. Either way if you show up prepared with a place to put the numbers it's fine to attach them with the painters tape/sharpie. I know you are asking about Loring but everything I've heard so far is that Loring will function in the same manor as the ECTA. You can wait until you're there to get assigned a number in that manor. If you want a specific number that's not in the ECTA's block of numbers, the 9000 series, then you can contact Chuck from the SCTA to see if what you want is available.

Here is the deal...the ECTA staff is helping with the Loring Meet. If you need a number, you can email my wife Donna at dtimney@ecta-lsr.com with your request. She will either try to get you your request or assign a number from our 'Bank of Numbers' that are provided by Chuck, Kalback, the keeper of the numbers for SCTA. At the track, Bob will have numbers from our bank if needed but everybody would prefer to get it handled before hand.

Loring will be using the ECTA rulebook for their meet.

Joe, Thanks, I contacted your wife (found her email on the ECTA website) and she will assign me # 9105. Thanks to everyone else with helping me figure this out.
