Newbie question
« on: February 19, 2009, 04:08:39 PM »
Rather than highjack erod's question about V-Twin classes, I'll pose this: What class would a HD XR-750 TT "production road racer" run in ?

Altered/special construction. "This class includes factory produced road racing or any other "works" models. Direct quote from '08 rule book.

Hey Fred,
would that "special construction" also cover a 85 Honda Odessy that I am seriously modifying? GSXR 750 power. I will be attending SpeedWeek this year as a spectator to get acquainted and plan on running El Mirage next spring and then SpeedWeek 2010.

If you have a stock frame and your seat is above the tires, then could be Modified Production.  Custom frame or a seat lower than the tops of the tires would put you into Special Constrution.

I highly doubt the Odyssey will be allowed to run at any SCTA event.

It will be less work making a vehicle from scratch then to try and convert the honda to be legal if it is possible at all.

Dont get me wrong, the idea of a gsxr powered Odyssey is cool and would be great in the trails, I highly suggest another avenue if you intend to run LSR.

the least of the concerns would be speed rated tires.  in the lakester class you would be gunning for well over 150 mph...just a guess here :)

there are some classes that may allow you to run at world of speed, but you need to do the research and make sure.

good luck with your endeavor!
