btw: mebbin, one of my favorite character voices, is inspired by a friend of mine in monterey.  melvin, a local radio evangelist, does barbecue the best ribs on the central coast... maybe in the west!

I remember well those trips from Pico Rivera out to Bonneville.

The stops for coffee & lunch.  But I do have to say that, Damn Jack you're a terrible driver on the freeway!  You're right Monty about covering the road from curb-to-curb and he was talking & laughing all the time.

And the coffee shop on Rosemead.  Every morning about 930 or 10 at the garage it was people piling into one car or another on the way to the coffee shop usually with Ak in the lead and at the turn onto Rosemead and down to at least to the RR overpass it was foot to the floor.

Of course Ak never let it be a 'fair' race!

i had too much fun to be legal in those days!!

RIP, Jack.  Too soon -- for all of us.

Woody, how'd you know where to find that photo?  There are scads of shots in the gallery?

Slim did you forget that I sorted a bunch of those pix?  :? Actually I took those 1970 shots at the time of my initial salt infection!  :-D

Then dutifully inspired, went home and grafted a Corvair turbo on my CB-750 that winter. Didn't run any faster or slower but sounded like an Offy going down the chute at Indy!  :-o :-o

Thanks Jack!

Nice piece, woody.

Sw262

How did it run? How fast? Where is the bike now?

I was unaware that you ran vehicles at the salt.
