Hey guys, it is TV, they do drama for a living, if they think it ain't there, they create it!
Jesse just wanted to go 200, he originally thought anyone that went 200 got in the club... it was politely explained. He is really a nice kid, not like his TV personality.
He had several shows that he had guys build things that he thought would go fast, he just wanted to say he went 200. The production company owns the car. We did try to get him to use a smaller engine to fit a class that would only need to run a little over 200 on the salt, but the "junk motor" he had was the one he wanted to use, traded the motor to the production company for the bike, he got the best of that deal. His goal for the deal was 200, I'll bet Mike had some kind of certificate ready just in case...
Since the filming they have called twice to talk about follow on shows to race the car. They pitch the concept to the network, network either says they will pay or not... so far, not. Some of the folks from the production company came to the salt in 2006 to film a "trailer" to pitch a show. Have not heard from them in about 2 years.
If you couldn't tell we had lots of fun, except for the deafening from the hour of noise we endured.... sorry, it was not music...
