Tom, thanks a bunch for the website reference.

He truly is the father of what's known today as a DRAGSTER. But he was weaned  on the dry lakes,  as was the whole drag racing sport!

IMHOP, we need to honor, and more importantly, carry on the MEMORY(S) of the legends.

Three pictures etched in my mind for eternity:  Dick Kraft in "The Bug", Ed Roth with the arrow through his head, and Kenneth Howard aka Von Dutch playing the flute................R.I.P. to all three............

Glen....we always need a place that those who come behind us will know and understand who the early hero's were.  This is especially important for those of us who were brought up in states like Iowa, where we never got to meet them, but they are still our hero's!  God Speed!

Interested Bystander, the tradition of those racers is carried on through the Dry Lakes Racers Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony is held annually at the Gold Coast Roadster and Racing Club's  Gas Up, each September in Buellton, CA. It always held at Mendenhall's Museum of Gasoline Pumps. The Gas Up goes back to 1991 so there are many more enshrined.

In 2008 Jim Fueling and Quin Epperly were honored. In 2006 it was Bob Hedman, Eddie Miller, Rosco Turner and Phil Weiand. In 2005 it was Ernie Bennett, JIM Culbert, Duke Hallock, Phylliss Lindsley, Paul Schiefer and Chuck Spurgin.

I'l try to complete this list for the past five years.

AS I walked thru the displays at the Bakersfield March Meet this past weekend, I found this. It may help other people to understand the

state of drag racing at it's infancy.

I'll contact Jack's Garage and Jim Miller, both Historians in the Dry Lakes Racers Hall of Fame. and see what they can add.

This was a Dick Craft creation.

The sign adds to anything I can say.
