I don't believe that we haven't seen Turk raving about the Dakar Ralley.

The event is being run in Argentina and Chile this year. The I learned that there are dunes in South America much like South Africa. If you didn't know difference you would think that they still raced in S.A.

At the half way point Americans Mark Miller and Robbie Gordon are in the top five. Consistently in the top ten to this point. In the bike classes American Jonah Street was kicking butt. Unfortunatly, he had to withdraw at this point due to a wrist injury.

Its on the Versus channel on your cable provider.

The Dakar is a little different than a mile and a third on dirt.

More like SEVENTEEN days flat out on dirt and worse.

I'll take El Mirage.
5 mph in pit area (clothed)

Oops!!!  Even a multiple world rally champion can get it wrong sometimes. Check out the other guys only just avoiding the same fate.

Robin, thanks for that link. Interesting strategy today for the VW team. I sure wish they had the 1 hr coverage like before but they do a pretty good job of getting it all in.

So you know how Sainz feels then!!  I remember my father telling me that the first thing he ever tried to drive was a delivery van. He figured that his friend's father would be ok about him backing it out of the garage so that he could get to the bike his friend had stored for him at the back of the garage. How hard could driving be? Looking carefully over his shoulder he let out the clutch after selecting a gear. Trouble was - wrong gear. He shot forward pinning his bike to the back of the garage. Double oops!

The event is over. Great show by Americans, Mark Miller 2nd overall driving for VW. Mark could have won but, was kept back by team orders. Robby Gordon, 3rd. overall in his Monster drink Hummer.

This is compelling television, try to catch it if you can.
