Hey Entropy, fancy seeing you here.
I'm thinking seriously about heading up to Loring myself, hopefully with Leslie and the pooch. A quick 1500 mile trip, chump change, and I have some places in New England I should visit. As I kid I lived outside Portland, in a little town called Yarmouth.
Dean

wazzup Dean!
So you are ANOTHER one o' those goddam Yankees!

Took me long enough to get to this forum, great place!

I grew up outside Worcester, Mass, my 91YO OTL Mom, Bro, et al are still there, will pay a visit on the way thru.

That's my pitch to my bird-girl wife:  "honey, my Mom is getting pretty old, don't you think I should pay her a visit?" :-D

todd - good to know it's south to north

it does seem a bit breezy there say average of 5mph but I'm more concerned with the possibilities of rain even though it doesn't seem to be for to long :|

It'll be interesting to figure out which Motels are in the right locations. I hope the local area is ready for the blitz

Lots of oxygen making foliage, good for N/A motors. Steve and Mark start packing. The extra distance should see some amazing speeds for both cars and bikes.

Loring & Bonneville too!?! Is your team planning Speed Week? Talk about a long drive! Wonder if there will be a convoy from Loring to Bonneville!

Will Charlie be joining the Angels in Maine?  :-D

I'm posting this on all the LTA threads.
A little reminder to remember SSS Jon W and how kind he is to maintain this beautiful thing, Landracing .com for all of us.
Consider patronizing all the advertising sites here (hits) and when you meet him, let him know how you appreciate him.
Also ask him how he got that Hot woman to marry him.
BOB, I'm thankful, big time,  W

Mostly for the benefit of those of you that aren't aware yet, this is the address   (below) for the Loring Timing Association and
information for our event to be held in August this year.We recommend  reading  all
the info available, and we hope it answers enough  questions.  Pre
Registrations can be submitted now, or if you are  unfamiliar with Land Speed Racing
, you can first order a Rulebook which has  most of what info  you need to
prepare to attend and run your vehicle.
We will soon also add a Aerial based map picture of the site to familiarize
everybody with the facility.
We will also add a News icon for regular updates on available
accommodations and dining facilities in the area.
Directions are also forthcoming .
In the meantime, have patience if we've forgotten anything or confused an
issue, we will straighten it all out very shortly.
We thank all of you that kept the faith waiting and watching our  progress.
We again  openly thank our Mentors at The ECTA for their ongoing  help ,
this probably could not have been done without them. And if it's a  failure,
blame them. LOL.

thanks for the update. Based on the maps you've provided does this mean that the only pit and spectator area will be by the start line?

The pits/staging/parking area is tentative, we'll probably enlarge it after our road trip up in June. Most likely extend it north along the return road.

Sounds like a good plan.

Having some areas away from the start line/staging area might help keep things from getting over crowded. I'm sure some spectators might want to see the runs at the finish line as well as the start area.

Deb,
Those distances posted are not exact, especially the turn outs. The only distance that I'd categorize as accurate is the start to the traps (7920) line. They are probably within a few per cent of the numbers,  as I measured off of different maps for it
Part of our road trip up's  purpose  in about a month is to measure and mark those lines.

Texas has all the pits along the return road, work out GREAT bc you can easily see where everyone is.

Thanks Big W so I'll plan on the Rough Distance for now until we hear back from you.

It does work well and everyone gets a front row seat to the track but with the 10mph speed limit it takes FOREVER to get from one end to the other!  :-o Like us, we needed something from our pit at the 3/4 while we were at the start line and Todd about sent out a search party for me cause it took so long!!! With such a long ride I kept getting nervous that I missed our pit! If it wasn't for Stainless2's bus I never would have found home!  :-D And yes I know that's why y'all pit at the start lines but we can't ALL pit at the start line!!

Deb,
Pit w/TFA and we'll assure you the same top shelf service we get!!!!!

on the negative side:  "a (wo)man is known by the company (s)he keeps..."
:D

I'm thinking that the initial Maine Event won't have 160 participants like Texas does these days, do the length of pits on the return road may be do-able.  The 1st Texas event had about 30 and we just pitted sort of near the starting area
