What are the differences between Speedweek and the World Finals at Bonneville for a competitor? I attended Speedweek in 2006 and intend to make my first trip to Bonneville in 2009 with a car to run. I want to compare things like number of runs opportunity, motel room availability and anything else that might make good sense for a first timer to attend one meet vs the other. Any help would be appreciated.

About World Finals: More rooms, less entries, more runs, better air, higher chance of being rained out.

I think that covers it.

Records or parts, I didn't come all this way not to break something.

BH, you failed to ask about World of Speed.   That would also be a good choice to shake down a new car.
If Speedweek gets 3 courses again, that would also be a good one.  The thing about LSR is anything can happen at any meet so you might want to try to plan for all of them if you can.
Go to speedweek, make 3 short course license passes, move to the long course after you run 175 in the quarter and 190 in the mile.
Run 216 on your next license pass, take it to impound..
Run 220 the next morning collect your hat..
How's that for a plan....  shocked

Back-up plan, do the same thing at Wos

Back-up for the back-up plan, do the same thing at WF

Minor hitch, at WoS, someone might raise the number ...  evil

Stainless, I like the way you think but that may be a little ambitious for my first trip! Or even my second!  I was only thinking about August and October, I will check out the World of Speed meet? Thank you for your advice, who do you think might bump up that record??
